About this deal

Pacily directed by Philip Franks, Murder in the Dark is a well-constructed chiller that mixes jump-out-of-your-seat scares with moments of unnerving dread. James Hadfield was a former Army Captain who was fighting in Flanders in the 15 th Light Dragoons Regiment. He was an Army Captain of exemplary conduct, according to the records, who was injured through various wounds to the head while in battle in 1794. but since almost every character is described in this way : age, height, hair etc it becomes tedious. We are delighted to reveal full casting for the new Torben Betts thriller, Murder in the Dark , directed by Philip Franks.

It has been a regular annual draw since 1986: the Colin McIntyre Classic Thriller Season, a group of plays performed on a weekly basis by a small repertory company. So it was no surprise that a quartet of plays is one of the first live events at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal now it has reopened, albeit with socially distanced audiences. On October 11 and 12, English Touring Opera will return to the Theatre Royal with Handel’s Amadigi, based on a chivalric romance about three young people imprisoned by a sorceress. It's Christmas at London's Theatre Royale and journalist Daphne King is determined to solve an extraordinary mystery... There were times during the performance when couples in the audience turned their heads from the stage to grin at each other as they identified with quarrels taking place on stage. The season will open with another world premiere, Zimbabwean writer-performer Tonderai Munyevu’s Mugabe, My Dad & Me from September 9 to 18. His high-voltage one-man show charts the rise and fall of one of the most controversial politicians of the 20 th century, Robert Mugabe, through the personal story of Tonderai’s family and his relationship with his father as he considers familial love, identity and what it means to be “home”. David Callister and Susan Earnshaw are well cast as Nigel Forbes and Maxine Goodman, one a bumptious extrovert who thinks it is time to end their writing partnership, the other an irrational bundle of energy who is easily led. ONCE nights start to draw in, York Theatre Royal will fill its stage with spirits and shadows in The Haunted Season from September 9.The opening scene drops you right into the action: unhappy with his lot, Victor wants out of his marriage.

The occasion was the opening night of All About Murder at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham – a Tabs production and part of the Colin McIntyre Classic Thriller Season which is a regular annual feature on the calendar and never disappoints. Crimes on Centre Court, based on a story from the award winning podcast (#2 in iTunes fiction chart), toured to great acclaim in 2021 and is an ace of a show which you’re sure to (fifteen) love. This deucey treat will rally the spirits and leave you wanting a second serve-ing of the volley of gags and visual delights. You won’t see it game set and matched anywhere else. New Old Friends have built a national reputation with their wildly inventive set pieces, twisty plots and commitment to unadulterated entertainment. We need a victim the audience would cheerfully hate,” says Nigel just before his gin-swilling, cantankerous wife Ann comes in to refill her glass. Once she is selected as the fictional murder victim, the two writers decide to kill her in real life. They have written several murder mysteries, so they know how to prepare for any eventuality. Nothing can go wrong—or can it? What's better than to read A Christmas Mystery novel on the Christmas Eve and get cozy under the blankets with a cup of hot chocolate, 'Murder At The Theatre Royale' by Ada Moncrieff is the perfect book for that.Over the last twenty years, Torben Betts has built up a reputation for writing dark comedies of social embarrassment. In Invincible, for example, the pomposity of a well-to-do couple is punctured when they invite over their refined neighbours for some non-alcoholic drinks and nibbles. Murder at the Theatre Royale by Ada Moncrieff belongs to a genre I have only recently become aware of – variously described as cosy crime, cosy mysteries and in this case cosy Christmas crime! As news spreads of a murder in London, a group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a remote countryside guesthouse. When a police sergeant arrives, the guests discover – to their horror – that a killer is in their midst! Which one is the murderer? Who will be their next victim? Can you solve this world-famous mystery for yourself? New Year’s Eve. A car crash on a lonely road brings famous but troubled singer Danny Sierra and his extended family to an isolated holiday cottage in rural England. From the moment they arrive, a sequence of inexplicable events begins to occur… and then the lights go out. Henry Goodman was simply superb at Hercule Poirot, giving the best performance that I’d seen at the Theatre Royal Bath in many a year. This wonderful actor perfectly inhabited every mannerism and idiosyncrasy of the OCD detective with such subtle skill that it was a real joy to watch. From the pedantic way that the moves and simply takes a seat, to his perfectly pitched questioning of the suspects and wonder at his own skills, he is joy to watch, making this one of the most complete and entertaining portrayals of the great detective that you’ll ever see (sorry Ken, but you really should be taking notes…). So begins a wonderfully creative and generally excellent adaptation of an Agatha Christie classic which, OK, yes, has been retold more times than your grandad’s favourite Christmas joke, but this time around benefits from some excellent performances and quite superb stagecraft.
