About this deal

When compared to traditional mops, a steam mop really can make the task of cleaning easier. The steam does most of the work for you, which means you do not need to scrub the floors too hard to achieve great results. It depends on the cleaning needing done. You can use a homemade mixture of water and vinegar or a mild dish soap for general cleaning or any shop-bought floor soap will do well enough for tougher grease. Whether a steam mop or a regular mop is better will depend on a range of factors. One of the most important factors is how you will be using the mop, closely followed by safety, bacteria, cost, and more. The answer depends on you. If you struggle with mobility and need a helping hand to keep on top of the cleaning then an electric scrubber can be a lifesaver.

Mop for Floor Cleaning with 5 Reusable Pads, 550ML Spray Mop for Floor Cleaning with 5 Reusable Pads, 550ML

The future is here, and it comes in the form of this robot mop and vacuum. The Ecovacs Deebot N8+ sailed through our recent lab testing, and went on to earn high praise from our long-term home tester who used it for months. It's transformative, and does a great job of cleaning every inch of floors. Plus, multiple steps and processes are automated—app set-up is a breeze, and it uses laser navigation technology to map your home and detect obstacles, and even locate rugs and carpets so it can adjust accordingly. It also empties itself (and holds up to two months' worth of dirt and debris). We did find that the emptying process is a bit noisy, though not that big of a deal. If an electric scrubber is what you’re after then Bissell have come up with an all-round winner. This microfibre mop is ultra-absorbent and it comes with custom soft-touch refill pads so is safe to use on sealed wooden floors, tiles, stone as well as most other floor types. A key benefit of a steam mop when compared to a traditional mop is that it does not need to use any chemicals. This means that you do not need to worry about using and storing loads of toxic chemicals in households with small children or pets. For many households, regular or spray mops are much more convenient because they do not require a power supply. Some steam mops are cordless, but even in these cases you still need to make sure they are fully charged before use. More expensive than traditional mops

When fully charged you should get a good 50 minutes of use out of this mop. It’s lightweight and the head is on a 180-degree hinge joint so can easily get around furniture. With the simple press of a button, the angle of this scrubber can be adjusted to reach anywhere and the 300r/min is powerful enough to remove tough grime and grease. Now, along with its struggles with oil, the other downside we found is that our hands do have to touch the messy mop pads to swap them out. And, because both surfaces can get dirty, we could see this posing a bit of extra frustration. Still, we think there's enough to appreciate with this model that we're still behind it for its convenience and eco-friendly, double-sided, reusable mop pads.

When we tested it, one complication we found was that the mop head flipped up a few times. Still, this is a lightweight, efficient, and practical steam mop with a bevy of attachments that you can use throughout your home. The bottle is designed to minimise any potential leakages no matter how you use it. This includes reaching areas above head height such as bathroom tiles or kitchen walls. The pads can be easily cleaned in the washing machine and are gentle enough to use on any surface. Fai Top suggests it is safe for wood, tile, glass, stone, and marble countertops and is even ok to use on a car. And last but certainly not least I have a tool that is a great add on option. It isn’t a floor mop as it’s too small to clean large areas but this scrubbing brush will give you targetted stain removal with minimal pressure on you. The newly designed mop head of the Swiffer PowerMop features what the brand calls scrubbing strips, which were so effective lifting messes and grime in our lab. It felt like the dirt and grime were suctioned right up. This efficiency also meant that it took only a few sprays of solution and swipes of the mop to get floors clean and shiny. Compared to the previous iteration of the Swiffer WetJet (and to many other mops we've tested), the scrubbing strips really set the bar for cleaning performance.

Tough design: One issue with spray mops is that they’re typically made from plastic, so the handles can be flimsy. Look for one that won’t break easily. Built with an ergonomic design, it helps to minimise injury such as muscle strain from use during long cleaning sessions, particularly for older users. This mop is very light and easy to manoeuvre about, so you can easily get under tables and clean hard-to-reach areas. The only regular, hands-on maintenance you'll likely need to do is remove and clean (or dispose of) the mopping pad after use, and clean the vacuum's brushes regularly. As with all robot mops, it is pricier than manual options. But if you're looking for a way to streamline your cleaning routine, a robot mop and vacuum is an investment worth considering.
