FINAL CRISIS #1-7, FINAL CRISIS: SUBMIT #1, FINAL CRISIS: SUPERMAN BEYOND #1-2, FINAL CRISIS SKETCHBOOK, FINAL CRISIS #1 DIRECTOR'S CUT and BATMAN #682-683 FANTASTIC FOUR (1961) #393-402, FANTASTIC FORCE (1994) #7-9, FANTASTIC FOUR: ATLANTIS RISING #1-2 and FANTASTIC FOUR: ATLANTIS RISING COLLECTOR’S PREVIEW It's a brilliant noir story with a large cast of well-developed characters set in the Batman universe. Great mysteries, awful tragedies, a Batman that actually feels like an urban legend, and interesting interactions with the Rogues Gallery. This is all around amazing. The end of the 40-issue run is such a bummer, and a couple of minor plot threads are left dangling, but hey, the end of this review isn’t! Nothing but positivity here. O'Connell, Michael (September 24, 2013). "Batman Prequel Series Coming to Fox". The Hollywood Reporter . Retrieved January 16, 2014.

The characters are all flawed, yet real. There's a realistic viewpoint throughout the stories, despite the fantastical elements of Batman, the Rogues Gallery, Metahumans, strange chemicals et al. This is the kind of superhero police procedural you can really get behind and enjoy. Art by GARRY BROWN, DAVE JOHNSON, DENYS COWAN, JUAN FERREYRA, KELLEY JONES, CHRISTOPHER MITTEN, and DOMO STANTON When a string of fires start popping up around Coast City, Tai finds himself stretched thin as he struggles to keep up with school, training, working at the store, and following Xander’s trail. That is, until a new hero, Kid Flash, shows up on the scene with an offer to help. Can the heroes find the arsonist before it’s too late? That’s this collection. You think you can stop after an issue or two, but it’s so addictive you just end up plowing through the whole thing like a lawyer in the 1980s sitting in front of a pile of cocaine.Bullied nerd Virgil Hawkins wasn’t the kind of kid you’d normally find on the streets at the protest—but like everyone else in the city of Dakota, he was fed up. Unfortunately, the first time he stood up to raise his voice, the world turned upside-down. The experimental tear gas released that day left some of his classmates maimed or dead… but it left Virgil, and others, with stunning new abilities. Virgil has power inside him now—real power, the ability to channel and manipulate electromagnetic fields—but there’s anger burning inside him, too. What is he supposed to do about all of this? And first and foremost—what is he supposed to do about his bullies, now that they’ve got super-powers too?
