About this deal

Zeb will host a '“dazzling" galacelebrating the musical legacy ofhis home town's most famous son at the Wigmore Hall later this year. It will take place as part of an ongoing appeal to raise funds to install a statue of Benjamin Britten, as a boy, looking out over the sea that inspired his music in his birth town of Lowestoft. Zeb Soanes and Selina Cadell return to the Thaxted festival to present an evening of words and music, exploring the themes of Holst’s Planets Suite, from Mars the Bringer of War to Neptune the Mystic. With the Echo Ensemble conducted by Noah Max. After an eventful year, during which we’ve celebrated 30 years of Classic FM, 90 years of John Williams, The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and plenty more, it seems only right that we should see 2022 out in style. James – I always listen to Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera Christmas Eve. He’s a favourite composer of mine, a “musical illustrator” of fairy tales. There’s also a lovely orchestral suite from the opera, if I don’t have time for the full work. It’s lovely, sparkly, magical music. Not this year, I’ll be flying to Mexico on Christmas Day. But they do have foxes, the kit fox ( Vulpes macrotis), so I may make friends with one of Gaspard’s distant cousins although I will need to brush up my Spanish!

Gaspard’s Christmas — Just Imagine Gaspard’s Christmas — Just Imagine

My favourite moment in Jonathan Dove’s score is when he introduces St Peter’s Church. The text describes it as being ‘ablaze with light’ and he uses the full power of the orchestra and tubular bells, it really is a thrillingly magical moment. Zeb Soanes — Zeb Soanes joins Classic FM

Classic FM’s Orchestra in North West England, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and two massed choirs come together for a whirlwind of festive music, featuring RLPO’s Artist in Residence trumpeter Pacho Flores, and presented by Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason. Zeb – I do love The Lonely Goat-Herd scene where Maria and the children present a puppet show for the Baroness — and when I was a very young child I briefly believed my mother was Julie Andrews. It was an instant choice for Peter the Cat’s favourite Christmas film. March 4th is World Book Day and amongst the new releases is Zeb Soanes’ new book Gaspard’s Foxtrot. Jonathan Dove has teamed up with Zeb to write a 30-minute concert work for narrator and orchestra based on the book that will be premiered this year at the Three Choirs Festival.

As it turned out, I was illustrating snowy London streets in the Summer, but I loved this heartwarming tale of a homeless man with a snowy white beard, on Christmas Eve… he is discovered by Gaspard, who is out snuffling for food scraps. But can a cold hungry urban fox save a freezing man? With a little help – maybe he can! A story full of kindness and thoughtful themes, it was fitting it should be launched at the crypt of St-Martin-In-The-Fields, whose homeless charity will benefit, in perpetuity, from the royalties from this book. As Zeb says: Is there any particular reason why the RSNO, and Scotland are your hosts for this Christmas season? If you have been following Gaspard’s stories, you’ll be familiar with the animal characters and their personalities. There’s a lovely moment that captures Peter and Finty perfectly, when Nikolaus reaches the church and reads the sign outside,
