About this deal

NOTE: I listen to movies on my Denon X6500h at -10 volume. That's -10 below the reference of zero. Some movies require me to lower the volume to -12 or even -15 if they are extremely loud, Midway, and Bladerunner 2049 are examples of loud movies. This is rare though, and in most movies, I either keep the volume level as is or I have to increase the volume. Dune for example was -2db low so I listened at -8 on the reference scale. Drive for example I listened to at -4. That's +6db more volume than I normally use.

Have to wonder what is it about the disc, how it's manufactured, or something else that prevents it from working. Therefore, try Leawo UHD Copy today. After you have installed it, follow the steps below for copying and making digital copies of your 4K UHD Blu-ray Discs; Step 1: Load the original 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc The movie was sourced from a 2KDI. I've personally only seen two movies on 4K that actually look really good coming from a 2K source and that didn't have upscale ringing and other issues. One was Zero Dark Thirty and the other was Eastern Promises from Kino Lorber. That's actually the best 2KDI transfer I've ever seen. This is the 3rd best for sure. There's no upscale ringing, no issues at all really concerning how it was upscaled. Whoever did the upscaling really knows what they're doing, this is how all 2KDI's should look. The only way I could tell it was a 2KDI was by the resolution. It's not as sharp as a 4K. It's as simple as that, but that's how it should be. Second Sight! whatever you're doing here, always upscale like this in the future, please. It's perfectly done. So, what do I think Second Sight Films should do for future releases? I think 100 GB discs should be mandatory for all your future releases. Why? Because putting the extras on a 25 GB Blu-ray disc may actually be more expensive. If you used a single 100GB disc on Drive, for instance, you could have set the average bit-rate to 98 Mbps. That's about as high as the x265 encoder allows right now, and you'd have more than enough room to spare for extras, all on one disc. This would cover any potential low-bit-rate moments and any ability to resolve film grain in poorly lit scenes. All of the extras should obviously be optimized for a low bit-rate. 12 to 15 Mbps for all the extras is acceptable, you may even be able to go lower with some encoder optimization. I believe Dolby Atmos at 4 Mbps, even at 2 hours, is around 4GB. So, you'd have plenty of room left even for extras and to get the best quality encode possible. Sure, most movies are 2 hours long and now we have to go into 95 or even 90 Mbps transfers, but this is still more than perfect. Ultra-high reference transfers are possible, but a 66 GB disc will never allow it. You can't even set Drive to 90 Mbps on a 66GB disc. That's already 67 GB with no menus and no audio and no extras. I think you've done a great job on a 66GB disc, but it's not perfect. It could be better. I hope you're a company like Kino Lorber; they take criticism well and have changed the way they transfer their movies on 4K. They target 90 Mbps on pretty much all their discs, and they all look great. This is a very good release, and I recommend it, it's just not perfect. If Second Sight Films are open to discussion and changes I will be importing more movies from you. Thanks for listening. With a bio-energy module placed in his chest, Toby's awesome martial arts skills are tuned to a super-human level. The only problem is that Toby doesn't want the power. Intensely atmospheric, Drive adopts cool retro beats and superior stylisation to create a memorable film noir and veritable modern classic.

The various elements, including love scenes with blatant nudity, were clearly not meant for an ABC audience either, but work surprisingly well in tandem, creating an interesting tableau. That said, there are definitely scenes wherein characters were meant to take part more in the proposed series than they eventually do, such as Joe the sloppy hitman (Mark Pellegrino), two detectives (Robert Forster and Brent Briscoe), Mr. Roque (Michael J. Anderson), the director’s unfaithful wife (Lori Heuring), and her lover (Billy Ray Cyrus). These characters add flavor and, in some cases, give much-needed comic relief to an otherwise dour tale. They could almost be lifted out of the main story without damaging it. Then again, who knows how much involvement a character like Cowboy (Monty Montgomery) would have had in the series. probably improves shadow detail in the many dark or dimly lit scenes, but I have to say maybe not by a huge amount. It’s one of those films that grabs hold and never lets go once it has its claws in you. The Criterion Collection’s Ultra HD upgrade of the film is remarkable. The picture quality of their Blu-ray release was top of the line, but the 4K UHD is nearly definitive. Highly recommended. Though it began as a potential pilot for a new series, David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive went well beyond its potential 4x3 confines, becoming one of his most celebrated cinematic works. Much of the credit can be laid at the feet of Naomi Watts, who was mostly unknown at the time she was cast in the film, giving a powerhouse performance that launched her career. Like many of Lynch’s works, it’s a film that gives you all of the details, but at the same time, those details aren’t laid bare. Working out what the film is doing and what it’s trying to say thematically is part of the appeal. Lynch would go even further with this later on in the much-beloved third season of Twin Peaks, but Mulholland Drive explores what working in Hollywood can do to someone and how relationships between people in that environment can affect their minds and their souls.

Indeed everything is absolutely gorgeous: the décor of Betty’s apartment, the grime in the diner, the leaves against the sky, overlooking Hollywood – everything is keen, clear and precise – even the intentional lens flares or softness!

Also, Tim has taken a look at Random Space Media’s recent Resident Evil: Six Movie Collection, which includes the first six films in that series in 4K Ultra HD. It’s very similar in content to Sony’s 2020 release and it’s an all-region Australian import. derivative premise and some outstanding fight and stunt work make this goofily enjoyable, and this new 4K UHD release offers solid technical merits subtitles and the disc actually seemed to have been authored to have them, but none were available.
