About this deal

A survey of 1,000 UK-based office workers for business solutions company The Remark Group found almost two thirds (65%) admitted they could not complete work on time because of noise in their workplace. Nearly half (44%) said that noise had a negative impact on their overall wellbeing, while more than 40% admitted reporting that noise at work caused them to feel stressed. When your anxiety starts feeling overwhelming, you can pop these in your ear to feel calmer. These also keep the ears safe from playing music to attending sports events, certain activities generate too much noise. They will provide ample hearing protection so you can keep doing these activities safely. Softvox Calmer removes the resonant effect of the Concha by using a tiny waveguide inside our ears. The Concha is the small shell shape that connects to our ear canal which normally resonates mid frequency sounds. Read our full review: Vibes high-fidelity earplugs review Should you consider noise-cancelling headphones for sound sensitivity? These are comfortable and easy-to-use earplugs designed specially for musicians and use at concerts.

Calmer reduces stress by removing distortion that would usually trigger the human ‘fight or flight’ response. The definition of noise is unwanted sound, or sound that is judged to be unpleasant, loud or disruptive to hearing. This distorted sound loads us negatively.Amygdala = A mass of grey matter inside each cerebral hemisphere. It performs a primary role in processing memory, decision-making and emotional responses (including fear, anxiety, and aggression). Part of the Limbic system its job is to prioritize everything that comes into your brain: smell, sight, taste, sound and feelings.

If you have sound sensitivity or auditory sensitivity, you might find some sounds very loud, irritating, distressing, or even painful. The objective of the Calmer technology is to reduce resonance (distortion) by using a tiny waveguide (the silicone hollow body plugs) to reflect sound into our ear which bypasses the effect of the Concha. In turn, this reduces our level of stress from everyday auditory events around us. They come with a small carry case and a selection of ear tips to choose from. This is what makes them a perfect fit. I had to try three different tips before I settled on one of the smallest sizes, so I recommend them if you have small ear canals. Study leader, Professor Tim Griffiths of Newcastle University, and colleagues, used fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) to find out how the brains of 13 participants responded to a variety of different sounds. If we go by Flare’s statement on the consequences of excess noise or distortion at these FR levels then possibly yes they are. According to the survey, sudden bursts of noise are the most irritating in the workplace, with the most annoying being: colleagues’ telephone conversations (74%); personal conversations (65%); sudden laughter (62%); telephone ring tones (58%); doors slamming (56%); eating noises (55%); business conversations (53%); coughing/sneezing/sniffing (50%) and music (40%). Much like poor diet, pollutants, distorted vision, which all affect our well-being, the sound we hear has the same effect.
