About this deal

When Cadbury decided to marry their white 'Dream' chocolate and standard Flake bar, they blew every other chocolate bar out of the water. Before Freddo came along, these were the cheap and cheerful chocolate bars with a caramel centre and Looney Tunes' Tazmanian Devil (Taz) engraved on them. They didn't need any extra fillings or flavours – the swirls somehow made this chocolate bar all the more delicious. Surely the chewy mint version of the Opal Fruit, the amazing Pacer, with its green stripes, sold really well? Unfortunately, it remained too much of a best-kept secret and the bar was withdrawn in 1994. Applause

When the film Casper the ghost came out they made a very nice refreshing blue bubblegum flavour ice lollie. I think they also made a Spiderman one which was red and blue but not as nice tasting as the Casper ... Think of this as the Cabana’s resurrection, only this time the shroud left behind was made of baking parchment. As a kid who became a teenager by the end of the decade, this was my time to enjoy a childhood of chocolate. And now get to write about it nearly 40 years later. So, here are my personal memories of 1970s chocolate bars. Texan Chocolate BarOften a favourite for swimming bath vending machines, Cadbury's Bar Six was a creamy chocolate bar with a wafer centre and hazelnut cream, they were very similar to a Chunky Kit-Kat. Bar Six had an orange wrapper and was wrapped ... It was the late 1990's when Cadbury's Nobble bars were around. They were the fantastic price of 20p - they were small, but well worth it for the taste!

The next day, cut the coconut into bars about 8cm by 3cm, press dried cherries all the way along the top, and set them on a tray lined with greaseproof paper. Freeze for a couple of hours to allow them to firm up.

You'll never find a caramel, cherry and coconut combination like a Cabana bar nowadays. Even a Bounty doesn't come close. Can you remember the wine cooler that was wine mixed with tropical fruits? It looked and tasted a bit like orange and pineapple squash, but fizzy. Come to think of it, maybe it was nearer a 4.8% alcoholic version of ... There are many chewy sweets of note from my childhood: Mojos, Fruit Salads, Pacers etc. but Chewits always stand out in my memory because of their really fruity flavours. And they’ve been a firm favourite of children (and adults) for ... The Banjo began life as a Kit Kat-style chocolate wafer bar that was only sold in London before reinventing itself as a nationwide product in the 1970s. A mix between a traditional Cadbury Flake and a Twirl the Cadbury Snowflake was crumbly white chocolate encased in milk chocolate. The Snowflake was also at points called a Flake Snow to separate it from its milk chocolate counterpart. It arrived on shelves in 2000 but by 2008 had been discontinued in the UK. The bar - under its name Flake Snow - is still available in other parts of the world. Asda has sold the 90s favourite Trio

Melt the dark or milk chocolate in a bowl over gently simmering water and, using a skewer or small fork, gently dip the frozen bars into the chocolate, carefully shaking off the excess. My wife got some made for me by "Seachelles Bake House" on Etsy, or you can find them through Facebook.Fruit Salad sweets can still be bought today, but in a squishy form. We can count them as one of our five a day, right? We just won't tell our kids ...
