About this deal

Yun Ren’s eyes widened. “You’re looking to buy one?” His brother had been a little interested before, but outright asking Yun Ren for one? Tbh I'm becoming less and less excited to read new updates as they come out... I'm just waiting for the plot to start again and slogging through all this slice of life stuff you keep writing. My mindset is why rush to read a chapter when it's the same stuff I got last chapter? The last dozen chapters even? Scared and distrustful of cultivators -> accepting that he has to engage in it and that cultivators are as varied and potentially good as mortals Well… that was kind of easy, wasn’t it?” Yun Ren asked his brother as they stared at the corpse of the deer.

But all in all the slow pace had proved fruitful. Their travels and time together had strengthened the bonds in their nascent fellowship. Working tougher, cooking, and swapping stories around their campfire had fast become one of the most anticipated parts of the day. Meimei, at least, had been happy about that. I glanced up from my sawing to look at my wife, who was standing in front of the house at the ready, her arms raised. She had a big grin on her face, her purple eyes flashing as she prepared herself. While there, the old Monster that was Shen Yu had decided that the fox’s lair was the perfect place to train Bi De for the journey ahead… and Nezan had taken it upon himself to aid Yun Ren and Ri Zu. He gently leaned a shining white sword against a log and placed a cup of tea before it. The sword was, even to his inexperienced eyes, a masterpiece. The inscription on the blade read Summer’s Sky.A slow, simple, fulfilling life in a place where nothing exciting or out of the ordinary ever happens...right? A rooster, a rat, and a man stood at the bottom of a pass. They were an odd sight together. Eye catching, and looking almost out of place. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here.

Yun Ren sighed as his Uncle Nezan acted like a doting grandmother. Though the powerful Spirit Beast had elected to remain in his home, he had bolstered the fragment of himself to contain over half of his Qi, effectively splitting himself fully in two. Where before he was limited to the form of a tiny fox, now he could create a fully corporeal body. For the first time in millenia, the shattered remains of something once greater thought. It was lesser than even the least animal… but it chose. Or at least that was what the cultivation manuals I remember said. Honestly, if the language wasn’t so blatantly power hungry, I would have agreed with them. A bit of travel did people good. New sights and new experiences were something to be treasured. With Bowu looking up at Gou and Xianghua at his side… Yun Ren’s little brother didn’t look so little anymore. His face was lit up in a way Yun had never seen. The trio looked like a family.

The protagonist of the story draws you in, wanting to know more despite his simple and unassuming life. Ri Zu nodded, smiling at Bi De, while Yun Ren stood up just a bit straighter, examining the pass like a seasoned warrior. Ah, younglings taking their first step out of their home province,” the old man declared. “I remember the first time I stepped foot outside Raging Waterfall Gorge with Ge. We must have spent an hour simply gazing at the sights!” Our main character is lovable and charming with a hidden depth to him that is so close to the surface its easy for characters to miss it; hiding in plain sight. This book manages to poke fun at the xanxia tropes while reinventing them. And the relationships were refreshing to witness and read. Summer’s Sky thanks Eighth Master ,’ the sword, a jian blade, intoned, speaking directly into his mind. It was a little weird and it tingled sometimes, but it wasn’t unpleasant. The sword rattled. ‘ Another new blend? Approval. ’

They would explore the Howling Fangs Mountains. Find out the truth of these demons… and then they would return home, their task complete. Hell yeah! Do you know how great it is to be able to eat meat and not get the shits?” She demanded. It's probably better this way,” Gou Ren replied, crouching down and bowing his head in respect for the fallen animal. Yun Ren did the same, silently thanking it for its contribution to their lives.Seriously, the humor was broad and with a heart to it that drew me in completely. I'm calling this an easy five stars and only wish I knew who to recommend it to because it is just so weird. Volume two spends way less time with the MC, which is interesting. At this point, he's hardly needed. As I said, he's boring and acts more like a hub for the actual active ingredients in the pot. Ah, that picture will be a good one! So cute and determined!” The woman smiled fondly, looking over Shen Yu’s shoulder to get a better view of the recording he’d taken. One of my biggest criticisms would be that the MC is boring. Like bad boring. I expected at least some selectiveness from him, but he just seems overly content with everything that comes his way. I'll admit, I expected at least some nuance of character, but every scene is just him with a goofy smile by the end of it. Life is not all goofy smiles, and it's slightly jarring. The plot, while being a fun twist on the genre, was not very interesting to me. There was barely any action, barely any drama, and the characters weren't interesting. Being a comedy and little else, it all came down to the humor.

The next cycle it happened again. And again. And again. And each and every cycle, the warmth lay upon the wound, building a tiny, miniscule bridge. Trying to seal one of the rents. I'm the kind of person who has trouble naming their favorite... anything, to the point I worry sometimes that I may not like anything. It's probably not true. I do remember liking things. I liked books. I just don't remember what those books were. But it does seem that most of the books I liked I either forgot about or in some way grew out of liking them. I hope I will remember this one in the years to come. He was getting a bit worried. Yun Ren would have to go up north and bug the old bastard if he stayed snoozing for too long.It cringed again, but could not pull away. It shrieked and whimpered, pulling and tugging at the line, and trying to sever this unwelcome hold that led directly to it. But it did not trust it. It felt.. Like some of the others. The ones that hurt. It carefully examined the power, and consumed it. It's a little difficult to split the style from the story and characters. The novel has multiple viewpoints and organically switches between them. Each perspective is unique enough that it would be (relatively) easy to guess whose eyes we're peering through without the author's help. Mostly, this tool is used to show the perspectives of Jin, his disciples, the mortals around him, and the people who have not gotten used to his antics. The original Jin Rou was an orphan and street urchin from Crimson Crucible City. At the age of 12, he was taken in by a vagrant old man living in the slums, named Shen Yu, who taught him how to write, as well as the mystical art of cultivation. At some indeterminate point in time, his master and adoptive grandfather abandoned him, not before telling him to seek out the Cloudy Sword Sect. Honestly? When Yun Ren thought about Xianghua all he could think was that he liked her. She was a bit weird… but hells, in this madhouse, who wasn’t? She fit right in as far as he was concerned, and was a regular riot when she started on the act she put on as a Young Mistress.
