The gin is presented in a statement purple bottle that captures the vibrant hues of upland heather in full bloom, and it is easy to tell that Ben Lomond Gin perfectly pulls inspiration from the unique flora, fauna and scenery of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The gin is a London Dry style, and the bottle features The rowan tree, native to the UK and most commonly found in the Highlands of Scotland, is prominent in folklore and was thought to provide protection from enchantment. From the vastly experienced gin fanatics at 56 North comes this new gin, named for the lost loch, which once inhabited The Meadows and provided much of the city’s drinking water at one time, the gin is created on the bar's own copper stills.Housed in an eye-catching blue bottle, inspired by the colours of the local heather in bloom, Ben Lomond Gin has been created as a celebration of the unique flora, fauna and scenery of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Holyrood Distillery and Eden Mill tied in first place for the most amount of medals achieved with each of them taking home four medal positions. This intriguing London Dry gin, has been made using the distillery's organic base spirit, botanicals including sorrel and cowberries grown on the estate, and of course, the water that flows from the slopes of Ben Rinnes. One of the great joys of gin is that there are so many different ways you can bring flavour to life. Different stills, different botanicals, different finishes and flavours each designed to accent that gins particular “flavour”. Start up gin businesses including Fassfern Distillery and Rutland Square Gin also collected medals, with Rutland Square Gin, made under contract at Summerhall Distillery, collecting the Gold Medal for Best Flavoured Gin.
