About this deal

It’s lightweight at only 1.3kg and can be collapsed, or even fully disassembled in a matter of minutes. Three easy-to-use preprogrammed search modes, a large LCD, and an intuitive user interface make it easy for even beginners to use right out of the box. Minelab therefore had the idea of a metal detector being able to change its frequency by swapping its coil. Thus the XTerra was born! In 2019 both Noktaand Minelabreleased new detectors for this market of detectorist and became heavy competition for the pre-existing Garrett Ace series. Garrett’s Ace detectorshad dominated in this area for quite some time, but the new technology and features within the Simplex and Vanquish machines generally replaced Garrett machines as choice in this price range for many people. In our opinion, the Simplex is yesterday’s waterproof detector, but the X-TERRA PRO is the waterproof detector of today, and for the foreseeable future.

X-TERRA PRO by Minelab dominates at the beach and a dedicated Beach Mode handles the most difficult saltwater conditions. The beach is regarded as one of the most difficult terrains for metal detecting, due to the saline nature of the environment, but the X-Terra Pro is optimised for this challenge. LIGHTING &VIBRATIONEdit: Since this article was written Minelab has confirmed that the X-TERRA PRO is being launched at the IWA in March. See here for more details: https://treasurehuntingworld.com/2023/02/10/minelab-x-terra-pro-its-official/] Do you miss the Iron Bias Control, which you have on the Minelab Equinox but not on the Minelab X-Terra Pro? Minelab has been quite busy of late. The launch of the Manticore along with the Equinox 700 and 900 has been grabbing the headlines. But what of other machines in the range? At the entry-level, there is the GoFind, Vanquish 340, 440 and 540. The Equinox 600 sits in the mid-range, along with the new Equinox 700. The higher end begins with the new Equinox 900 and finishes with the Manticore. The CTX3030 is still a current machine but for all intents and purposes, it has been superseded by the Manticore. The other thing that makes the X-TERRA PRO special is that it can use all of the coils available for the Equinox and that includes third-party coils made by Coiltek. As ever with our detector comparison blogs, there is no ‘right’ answer. What works for you, won’t work for everyone and there will be a range of reasons for everyone making their own choices. At Crawfords Metal Detectors hope to help you find the machine that’s right for you. If you’re short on time, skip to the end of the blog now to read the summary, and for those who want to know it all, please take 6-8 minutes to read through our assessment.

It also has a dedicated noise cancelling feature where the Simplex+ only has a frequency shift. So where does the XTerra Pro fit in? Since you already own and love the XP Deus II, Minelab Equinox 800, and the Nokta Gold Kruzer, and all of the new metal detectors on the market that are affordable, why did you decide to get a Minelab X-Terra Pro? So to answer Steve's thead title question: Do we need another single frequency detector? I would say the answer is, not really. One big question which baffled the detecting community was why Minelab decided to launch a switchable single frequency machine in 2023? There are pros and cons here as with most things in life! The biggest pro is that the Vanquish range all use Multi-IQ multi-frequency technology. They won’t however have as much adjustability as the XTerra Pro.
