About this deal

That's 86 stores in 70 days that we'll have opened successfully, and no one should underestimate the effort and energy that our teams have put into delivering that achievement - I certainly don’t. It’s phenomenal!”

Meanwhile, Mr Dawson is adding another four The Range outlets this year. He opened a store in Walkden, Manchester, on November 24, and will open in Leamington Spa, Cwmbran and Chelmsford on December 1, and in Oswestry on December 8.The GMB Union has said that the hopes of a deal which could have saved hundreds of stores and thousands of jobs have collapsed. “We are incredibly sorry to have to share the devastating news that (administrators) PwC have confirmed the previous offer being explored for the sale of hundreds of stores as a going concern has fallen through,” the union said. Karl then took out his phone and filmed himself in the empty shop singing My Way by Frank Sinitra, with Karl changing the ‘My Way’ lyric to ‘the Wilko Way’. Explaining this change, he said: “Everything in the company’s ethos is doing things in the Wilko way, so it seemed opportune.” Sherwood resident Jennifer Mere, 44, said: “It’s awful, a massive loss to the high street. I love Wilko, I love the staff and it’s such a shame.” It meant that stores started to close last week, with 90 now shut for good. The first two dozen closed last Tuesday, September 12, with another 28 on Thursday and a further 38 on Sunday. Plymouth billionaire Chris Dawson could reopen nearly 300 Wilko stores around the UK. The retail magnate said he is looking at locations where Wilko previously traded before the chain went belly up.

B&M has already said that it will take on up to 51 Wilko stores, but it has been reported that they will be fully rebranded as B&M Bargains stores. The deal with administrators PwC was announced just a day after all Wilko stores were confirmed to be closing down after bids to save the Leicester founded-firm failed to materialise. The Poundland deal, led by its owner Pepco, will see the stores unveiled under their new names by the end of the year. The Range’s annual report said the “significant investment” will “help support the group’s expansion as it continues to open new stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland.”. It added: “The group aims to build on its success with new store openings across the UK and Republic of Ireland. The director expects 2023/24 will show further growth in sales from continuing operations.” Of course, we’re not yet in a position to offer our fullest ranges in these stores, but we know customers will appreciate a shop that’s open, trading and employing colleagues to one that’s got its shutters closed. We’d encourage customers old and new to come and say hello to their new Poundland team from this coming Saturday in each of these 10 locations.”

There is no delay within games as players get one booklet before they start, and each game is kept neatly together. If you are playing in a Pub or a Club, it is best to choose a 8 or a 10 Game booklet with a break half way through. In Stevenage, Camberley and Chester, Poundland will relocate into the Wilko units from existing nearby stores. All new Poundland stores – both Wilko and non-Wilko units – will feature the very latest Pepco family clothing that has rolled out to 560 of Poundland’s existing UK and Ireland stores. Karl said: “It’s crazy, I’ve been blown away. But the lovely thing is that every comment has been positive. I didn't intend to do it to get likes - wherever there’s an empty room, you'll get me singing.”

Saturday 2 December 2023:

Workers at the stores will not be transferred directly as part of the move, but Poundland has said it will "prioritise" existing Wilko workers for roles when the shops are opened under the new brand. Poundland said its new lease agreements are set to be completed in "early autumn", aiming to open the stores by the end of 2023. We bought the Debenhams in Chelmsford,” Mr Dawson said. It will become one of The Range’s largest stores but will be dwarfed by the chani’s new distribution centre in Stowmarket, Suffolk, which has just opened. Unwanted Food or Drink Products - Once supply conditions are broken, there are a number of factors outside of our control that can affect the quality of a product. Therefore perishable goods such as food and drink cannot be returned. Poundland has confirmed another seven former Wilko stores will re-open before Christmas. This brings the total of former Wilko stores that are beginning their Poundland journeys to 63.

Around 12,500 people were affected when Wilko was placed into administration in September and it was announced that all 400 stores would close for good.It comes as Poundland owner Pepco agreed to buy up to 71 Wilko stores following the collapse of the high street chain. PwC, administrators for Wilko, said that Pepco has sealed a deal that would see the stores reopened under the Poundland brand. Karl said: “I won't stop singing, even in the darkest times. We were always signing, particularly during hard times. Even when they turned our radio off, we had a speaker on in the shop. Music brings people together.” Poundland said it was continuing to prioritise former Wilko colleagues for roles in its stores and encouraged them to follow Poundland’s posts on LinkedIn or visit www.poundlandcareers.co.uk to find details of open roles and how to apply for them. To date, Poundland has now made offers of employment to over 800 former Wilko colleagues. The exact location of the 71 Wilko stores is unclear at this stage, but the deal means high streets will only be temporarily vacant while they are transformed into Poundland stores. The news also comes a week after Wilko’s other discount chain rival, B&M, bought up to 51 stores which will all be transformed into B&M shops. From this weekend, only 41 stores are left open, with all the last ones standing closing at the same time on Sunday, October 8. Meanwhile, a total of 71 Wilko stores were bought by Poundland while the first 10 rebranded shops reopened last month.
