About this deal

The robes were painted with Stormfiend and Nighthaunt Gloom, the shield with Doomfire Magentaand Sigvald Burgundy, which I wetblended together, the club was given two coats of Ratling Grime, and I also used Ratling Grime to shade the brass armour I basecoated with Runelord Brass. For the skin, I used a coat of Kroak Green plus some glazes of Poxwalker to add some blue-greenish hues, and Targor Rageshade to wash the metal. Value

Jaded and capricious in the extreme, Sigvald the Magnificent ever strives to plumb new depths of cruelty in his conquests. He inspires fanatical devotion in his followers, for they know that in the aftermath of battle, they may sate their most unholy lusts without restraint. [1a] Sigvald's Folly Fire Dragon Bright– This vibrant orange shade is a great choice for highlighting details and creating accents on miniatures painted with Sigvald Burgundy. As a warm color, it also helps to balance out the cool tones of the blue and provide a cohesive color scheme overall. It can be used to create dynamic highlights and shadows, as well as to create contrast with other colours like blue and bone. This all came to pass when Sigvald came upon a small valley nestled between a small mountain range, deep within the heart of the Chaos Wastes. It is here that he found a serene and beautiful landscape, completely shielded from the horrors which rage across the northern hellscape. Auric Armour, The Auric Armour is a sculpted suit of plate mail forged from ensorcelled gold. Tendrils of dark energy constantly caress the skin of the wearer, rejuvenating his flesh and closing his wounds with a tender touch. The personification of beauty on the outside, but utter moral rot within, the Geld-Prince rides at the head of an army of utterly devoted followers who would give their lives for him without a second thought. Dozens of exotic females attend to his every whim and desire, and his elite honour guard, called the Mirror Guard, bear mirrored shields so that Sigvald might bask in his own divine glory at all times. Such are the depths of Sigvald's self-obsession that he will even call his retainers to attend him with their mirrors in the midst of battle, preening and murmuring compliments to himself as men plunge into battle and die all around him. [1a] Plus some colours have a tendency to produce smoother results while some dry rather unevenly. And while most Contrast paints dry matte, you sometimes get a pot that dries a bit glossy. The Army Painter’s competing product Speedpaint provides more consistent results but has some other issues like reactivating paint, as we pointed out in our review here. Together with the new Contrast paints and reformulated shades, you’ll find it easier than ever to achieve the results you want and make your miniatures pop on the battlefield. These are some of the boldest and brightest colours in the Contrast range. They’re perfect for creating vivid finishes and striking effects. Who knows what arcane elements our paint technicians mixed up to get such vibrancy? It was from here that Sigvald, in his desire for perfection, gave his soul to a Daemonic Slaaneshi entity known only as Belus Pül. In exchange for his patronage, Sigvald promised the Daemon that he would follow his dream and indulge himself in every kind of decadence no matter how slight. With his soul sold to the Daemon, Sigvald was given the power he needed to acquire anything he so desires. [3a]

To some, that might contradict the idea of Contrast somewhat, but the smooth and even finish of these colours means that you can achieve an (almost) perfect layer of yellow, orange or red with just a single coat of paint.Pretty revolutionary. Note that these colours still require a white/light primer, as they are transparent like all Contrast paints. Lizzie: This is an incredibly versatile new shade of brown. It’s perfect for leather and cloth. This is fantastic for adding some extra grime to your Nurgle miniatures too. Not only have all of the existing Shades been reformulated – during the process of refining these recipes, the Citadel Colour technicians were inspired to create seven entirely new paints.* Lizzie: Contrast paints are an incredible tool for any painter. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced hobbyist, these paints are easy to use and highly versatile – allowing you to create a number of fantastic effects. The “dark and flat” colours, namely Dark Angels Green, Cygor Brown, Leviadon Blue, and Shyish Purple. These paints tint a lot but don’t produce very pronounced highlights. Sitting next to Volupus Pink, but even richer, this colour comes close to the intensity of Screamer Pink, but with the unique flow of contrast. The personification of beauty on the outside, but rot within, the Geld-Prince rides at the head of an army of utterly devoted followers who would give their lives for him without a second thought. His elite bodyguard bear mirrored shields so that Sigvald might bask in his own divine glory, and dozens of exotic females attend to his every whim and desire. Kantor Blue -This rich blue color provides a complementary contrast to the burgundy hue of Sigvald Burgundy, and can be used to create striking highlights and shadows on miniatures. It pairs well with a range of other blue shades, as well as with other warm colours like orange and yellow. White Scar is designed specifically for use with Contrast paints, to sit alongside the cool Grey Seer and the warmer Wraithbone sprays. There’s nothing stopping you from using it with our regular Citadel range, however. It’s great for creating punchier colours from a brighter undercoat – you can even try using our reformulated Shades on it for bold new results.

Emma Robinson These Shade paints are designed to provide instant depth and easily create stronger shadows, speeding up the process of creating great-looking models. While Contrast paints are designed to tint surfaces and give an intense finish, this new formulation ensures that Shade paints will settle more effectively into the recesses of your miniatures – while leaving the raised parts of your models relatively untouched. Hundreds of years later, Sigvald the Magnificent marches to war at the head of an army of admiring followers. Any who the Prince deems to be ugly, crude or irritating he has put to the blade, sometimes eradicating whole cities on a whim. Slaanesh spoils his adopted son as an indulgent father, and Sigvald’s wild excesses only serve to elevate him further in the Dark Prince’s favour. Jaded and capricious in the extreme, Sigvald the Magnificent ever strives to plumb new depths of cruelty in his conquests. He inspires fanatical devotion in his followers, for they know that in the aftermath of battle, they may sate their most unholy lusts without restraint. Lizzie: As majestic as Sigvald himself, this is a really vibrant colour that shades and highlights effortlessly. Naturally, I’ve tried this on the Prince himself and I can confirm – he heartily approves. Not every miniature needs to be blindingly bright on the tabletop. A rich and easy-to-apply colour is the perfect accompaniment to help the vibrant models in your army stand out even more. These paints will give you reliable and resplendent results with no fuss – ideal for the core colour of an army. Need to paint some solid Space Marine armour? Hues like Baal Red and Bad Moon Yellow will make short work of saturated ceramite for any Chapter. Or, if you’ve got your eyes on a Hedonites of Slaanesh war host, Doomfire Magenta will give you the luxurious robes you need to satiate the Lord of Pleasure himself. Eventually, the Geld Prince came up against Krell, one of Nagash's Mortarchs. The Undead Chaos Warrior was initially able to dominate their fight, wounding Sigvald greatly and permanently ruining his once handsome face. [5] Harlequins: The Harlequins are a faction of Eldar known for their acrobatic combat style and flamboyant, colourful costumes. In June, we invited Warhammer TV painting presenter Emma Robinson to talk about her favourite colours and some inspired uses for them. Today we’ve got her co-host, Lizzie Ward, to talk about her 10 favourite paints from the new range and how she has been using them. Need a brown that’s got the tan punch of Snakebite Leather but is stronger like Cygor Brown? Garaghak’s Sewer is your weapon of choice. Our paint scientists haven’t stopped there. White Scar is our best ever white spray paint. It applies smoothly and with absolutely no fuss, giving you the perfect foundation for painting dazzling colours – and it works particularly well with our most vibrant new Contrast paints.James created a spectacular feathered rainbow on his Lord of Change by thinning his Contrast paints right down to a glaze consistency with Contrast Medium . Then he applied lots of thin layers onto his Greater Daemon, slightly overlapping layers of Celestium Blue , Dreadful Visage , Sigvald Burgundy , Karandras Green , and more to retain vibrant paint colours while building up a smooth, ‘wet blend’ gradient between each hue. Daniel Veress Blue paints are getting new options in the latest range. Celestium Blue slots between the brighter Talassar Blue and darker Ultramarine Blue. Imperial Fist takes up the gauntlet thrown down by Nazdreg Yellow and Iyanden Yellow, pushing the pigment further and making yellow even more of a breeze to paint. Emma’s Tzaangors have a vibrant, old-school colour scheme that uses Contrast for almost everything, from their pastel skin to their earthy horns – she’s even used layers of Contrast paint to give a metallic look to their golden weapons and trim.
