About this deal

The HDJ-CX headphones are comfortable enough to wear for extended periods of time without noticing their existence. The innovative, lightweight, ergonomic design is to thank for this outstanding level of comfort. Everything from the cable's wiring, which was streamlined to save weight, to the curl on the coiled wire, which was placed closer to the plug to improve balance, has been taken into account. As a result of all this, as well as the adjustable earcups and stainless steel headband, it's effortless to get the perfect fit. As a brand, the AIAIAI range is famously used by Richie Hawtin, Charlotte de Witte and many others – so what’s not to like! Approximate price:

The HDJ-CX ‘phones have a surprisingly full sound, with deeper bass than I was expecting, which is a good thing. Pioneer DJ says they go down to 4Hz or something, which is ridiculous as we can’t hear anywhere near that low, but hey. Bottom line: They sound really nice, like bigger headphones. As one of their major selling points, the brand makes it super-easy to customize your own pair, with the option to interchange the headband, ear pads, drivers, and all the cables. Following on nicely, we have the massively popular HD 25s from Sennheiser. These are an on-ear design for professional DJs, and some would say the ‘industry standard’!Released in March 2022, the HDJ-CX are professional on-ear DJ headphones from Pioneer DJ– similar in many ways to the Sennheiser HD 25s that we’ve just covered. Sufficient bass response: As well as generally being louder, DJ headphones will generate more bass than consumer or studio headphones would. This is necessary for monitoring a DJ mix in noisy environments such as bars & clubs, etc. With regards to sound, it really depends on individual preference. These things have a notoriously neutral (or balanced) sound compared to most DJ headphones on the market. In other words, whilst it’s more than sufficient, the bass isn’t as dominant. This allows the mids and highs to come through more, which many DJs prefer.

Other design functions: They should be well-padded, lightweight and easy to adjust. These are all essential for comfort and extended use/longer DJ sets. Comfort-wise, the ear pads are made from nylon and contain memory foam, making them extremely comfortable. For monitoring purposes, the clamping force on your head is also about right (meaning you wouldn’t want them on your ears constantly, same as with all on-ear designs).Deliveries will be made subject to the terms and conditions of the courier company. djkit.com will not be held responsible for late deliveries. When you copy something like the HD 25s, you’re going to draw comparisons – and these are definitely a copy, if not exactly the same. Trouble is, it’s like comparing any other turntable with the Technics 1210 Mk2 – something that has proven itself over and over again, its very reliability being its strength. The HDJ-CX professional on-ear DJ headphones feature a minimalist yet sturdy design with tight, wide-ranging audio and powerful sound providing precise monitoring and mixing in any environment. The bass reflex chambers improve low frequency response even further while the sound insulators create a higher level of audio insulation, so you’ll hear the full bass sound along with every nuance in the music. The bass reflex chambers bring plenty of response on the low end. Because of this, the highs perhaps don’t come through quite as crisply compared to the Sennheisers – but again, it’s down to personal preference. We found that the noise isolation was also very good HDJ-CXs, so no complaints there. Released in 2020, Pioneer has touted one of the key selling points as ‘durability’, and we’d have to agree. Despite being all plastic on the outside, the build quality is great, and they look and feel professional.

HDJ-CX is so lightweight you might forget you’re wearing them. Specially designed for absolute comfort and tuned to deliver tight audio with a wide range for mixing and monitoring music in any environment, the new headphones also feature a high level of sound insulation and are built to last. Of course, the highs aren’t going to be very pronounced on a DJ headphone, but the frequencies aren’t rolled off either. They actually possess a pretty flat timbre that appears even and well communicated. It presents a good amount of clarity with a solid amount of volume to the treble region. Summary I found the headband a little narrow, meaning the top half of the earpads pushed harder on my ears than the bottom half. But apart from that they felt comfy enough. They’re certainly no less comfortable than my HD 25s, which actually apply more pressure on the ears. They just feel a bit different. The HDJ-CX headphones by and large look and feel like the HD 25s, with the added advantage of easily detachable cables, plus a choice of coiled or straight cables in the box, and spare pads provided. Plus, they sound good, and are about the same price. The HDJ-CX headphones have a surprisingly full sound, with deeper bass than expected, and a featherlight fit. You can wear the HDJ-CX headphones for several hours and hardly feel their presence. This supreme level of comfort comes from the brand-new lightweight, ergonomic design. Every tiny detail has been considered, including the wiring in the cable which has been slimmed down to reduce weight, and even the positioning of the curl on the coiled cable which has been moved closer to the plug for greater balance. It’s easy to find a perfect fit thanks to all this, plus a high level of flex in the sturdy, stainless steel headband and adjustable earcups.Set your headphones up the way you like by choosing from the 2 supplied cables – straight or coiled. To make sure you never lose your 1/4" plug adapter, clip the adapter holder neatly onto your cable so it’s always at hand. A pair of replacement ear pads are also included, and you can expect them to come in handy eventually because these headphones should serve you well for a long time. Whilst you’re in the booth, you’ll likely be running your headphones at a very high volume to properly hear your mix. That’s why the HDJ-CX’s drivers harness the input power to achieve 2,000 mW, so you can push them hard and experience very little distortion. Fully Equipped With regards to comfort, they’re surprisingly lightweight, and the large vegan leather cushions and headband both contain memory foam, making them extremely comfortable for extended use (the leather is resistant to sweat). For the price, you really can’t go wrong, although just be aware they might get a little uncomfortable when wearing them for longer DJ sets as the ear cups are quite small. And whilst these are definitely not a premium set of cans, you wouldn’t expect them to break anytime soon! Approximate price:
