About this deal

Fire Pike [Redemptor Priest, Deacon, Redemptionist Brethren]: No, it’s not a long-range melta gun like Aeldari Fire Dragons have. Sheesh, if only. It’s a slightly-upgraded flamer for 10 more credits. It gets a little bit of a boost, here as Redemptionists can’t take blunderpoles, but it’s still awfully pricey for what it does. Rating: C+ Deacons are confirmed Brethren who are fanatically loyal to the Redemption cult and completely trustworthy in the Redemptor priesthood's eyes. Their faith is rewarded with a position of responsibility and the best weaponry. They will provide the cults with resources as well as targets. Confessors or other clergy will often accompany them to document and bear witness to the faithful's campaigns of cleansing. Those Redemptionists who prove themselves competent or especially devoted are often recruited into the service of a cardinal or into a cell of Inquisition Acolytes.

Blasting Charges: When strapped to bomb rats, Blasting Charges really start to shine. Their shorter range is mitigated, and their potential for destruction cannot be denied. They’re also the cheaper of the two “good” grenades, so go ahead and grab them first. Rating, when strapped to a rat: A Fire Pikes are what happens when a Redemptionist sees a flamer and thinks, “Not enough gun.” They’re pricey, but they’ll put down some of the toughest fighters around, no problem. Do not suffer the heretic for they have heard the Emperor’s truth and have heeded it not. Force them to penance and then to death. Skills are the same, Brawn and Combat for primaries, with Agility, Ferocity, Leadership, and the newly added Piety for secondaries. It would have been nice to get a more…usable set of primaries for the Firebrand, but you can’t always get what you want, huh? Like Word-Keepers, Firebrands get an upgraded equipment list, but there are no real surprises. Have no fear, heavy crossbows are very much still in play.So if it is VanSaar that is added, do you think they will add new items too, or just throw them in to the game as it is? The Cult of the Redemption is an extreme religious sect that worships the God-Emperor of Mankind. It originated on the Hive World of Necromunda, but similar cults can be found throughout the Imperium. Redemption belief is based on the Imperial Creed, which holds that mankind is ruled and guided by the Emperor. While the Imperial Creed has definite militant overtones, the Redemption has taken it one stage further. Two-handed Axe & Hammer [Word-Keeper, Firebrand, Cawdor Brethren, Zealot]: We’re grouping these two weapons together because they’re both kinda unimpressive. They’re -1 to hit and take up two weapon spots, so the only thing that makes one of them interesting is that there is a little bit of AP here in the Axe. A tooled-up Leader or Specialist might be able to dole out some damage with these, but there are better options out there. Rating: C- Grenades Chainaxe [Redemptor Priest, Deacon, Redemptionist Brethren]: Incredible value for an excellent weapon. And you can put an exterminator on it! What’s not to love? Rating: A The Imperial Creed is not a forgiving faith. Those who observe its doctrines in the strictest possible way know that redemption is only found in death.

Flamers are the weapon of choice for such militant fanatics, as the Emperor is often symbolised as the cleansing fire in these cults' doctrine. Other than Flamers, spiked maces, whirling chainaxes, chainswords and other melee weapons which render and tear flesh in a scourging manner are also extremely popular among Redemptionists. A Crusade is a gathering led by a religious figurehead, thus often has a more focused direction than a mob.All right, the first of our new fighters! Same price as the Word-Keeper, and same physical stats, too. There’s a little bit of a reshuffling of the mental stats, and interestingly, the Redemptor Priest comes with one of the best native Willpower scores in the whole game, meaning that one could easily be a very good psyker if it came down to it, which is highly ironic.

We’ll be showing off all of the new Redemptionist models on Saturday as part of the latest Warhammer Preview Online so make sure you tune in, or you may be deemed to be a heretic.

In Conclusion

Cawdor Polearm/Blunderbuss [Word-Keeper, Firebrand, Cawdor Brethren]: This is it, right here, y’all. The blunderpole . Cawdor players love them, everyone else fears them. Not only is this easily the best weapon available to a Cawdor gang, it is potentially one of the best weapons in the game . It combines what’s best about a Combat Shotgun (which we love here at Necromunday) with a pretty gnarly versatile weapon, and you can give one to everyone in your gang . The template weapon has two profiles, too, and one of them has the Plentiful trait, which means it automatically reloads should it ever run out of ammo! And then the other profile can set people on fire! This is easily the number one heretic purging weapon available in the Underhive, and you should grab a whole bunch. Rating: A+ Am I making a mistake trying to shoehorn in the Redemptionists? I like the image of a Word Keeper with a chain glaive, so didn't want to go with a Priest. What about the Brethren Specialist with the long rifle? The customary gas aura terrain piece (a la Escher Gas Censers or Van Saar Rad Casters) is the Hive Incense ; which causes nearby adjacent gangers to scatter. Always remember to wear your respirator, kids. Of particular interest to us is the Caged Heretic , who not only presents us with an amazing modeling opportunity, also forces nearby non-Cawdor to take a nerve test. In an interesting twist, opposing gangers can actually gain a bit of XP if they manage to free the hapless victim! Recommended equipment: Chainaxe with exterminator, Eviscerator, cheapo pistols, Book of Redemption, mesh armor, cherub-servitors. The concept sketches of Cawdor appear to have been based on the Venators of Necromunda's predecessor Confrontation (indeed, one of the possible gang names is "Venators"), and this influence remains in the hoods, masks (especially the executioner/torturer masks of the heavies) and nooses (such as on the House symbol and around the miniatures' waists).
