Tom Cox could see the ban would be made worldwide and lobbied the delegates but such was the influence of Croft that that the ban went ahead. In 1954 the National Darts Association was formed to oversee the game and establish more widely recognised rules of play. In 1957 the foundations for county darts were laid .
