About this deal

Sailing to the top of the Pink Gin flight was Master‐winning Mirabeau Dry Gin. One member of the panel said: “Delicate perfumed nose, lovely and floral with some peppery juniper and a lovely fruity spiced finish, just glorious.” Provence wine brand Mirabeau entered the spirits sector with the launch of the gin in January 2020. Botanicals used in production are: juniper, citrus, orris root, angelica root, coriander seed, rose petals, lavender, jasmine, bay, thyme and rosemary. It was launched in 2018 and it is a triple-distilled neutral grain spirit which is re-distilled in a traditional copper pot.

The Swedish distiller took home an impressive eight Master medals in the competition, including one for its navy strength bottling. But other botanicals such as blood oranges, cassia bark, angelica root and rose petals are sourced across India. Gin Gin Greater Than Gin combines that familiar classic orange citrus twang with a strong juniper forward note, followed by a zing of ginger. We’ve consistently said that it is one of the best classic “cabinet essential” gins you will find and for the price, it delivers incredible value. Nao Spirits wanted to change that even in the short few years since their journey began, they have managed to cast away years of preconceptions. Internationally, they have been part of a core group of producers who have put Indian Gin on the map and domestically, they have set an example that is inspiring dozens of other dreamers, spirits enthusiasts and entrepreneurs to join the craft distilling movement.

Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin

The only London dry gin made in India. Copper pot distilled with botanicals sourced from India and around the world. This gin has clean juniper and fresh lemon peel on the nose and a zing of ginger on the finish. The first panel comprised Melita Kiely, editor of The Spirits Business and chair of The Global Spirits Masters Competitions (GSMC), Will Keogh, founder and CEO of Woolf Drinks, and Clinton Cawood, freelance spirits writer.

David T Smith, spirits consultant, writer and co‐founder of the Craft Distilling Expo, chaired another group. Forming his panel were: Anne Jones, drinks expert at Waitrose; and Keegan Menezes, drinks consultant. One judge said of the Master-winning expression: “Cherry and almond notes on the nose, tart, juicy and plummy on the palate with a welcome sour greenness on the finish.”

Some are mellow while others are flavoured, meaning that there is an option for different gin preferences. Goa-based Stranger & Sons was created in 2018 by Sakshi Saigal, Rahul Mehra and Vidur Gupta’s Third Eye Distillery. Jin Jiji is distilled in a copper pot still in Goa and the ‘Jiji’ is derived from the Hindi word jijivisha to describe a passion and lust for life.
