About this deal

Capture stunning detail on a microscopic level with the Godox MF12 MF12-K2 12W macro flash. This powerful and lightweight flash unit, designed specifically for macro photography, makes it possible to capture small objects and intricate details with remarkable clarity. The adjustable head angle and focus distance give you complete control over exposure, while intuitive controls make it easy to set up and use with a Nikon camera. The major difference between this and most other speedlights, bar the aforementioned Profoto A1, is the round fresnel head. While not being the answer to all the issues we have when using speedlights, it does offer some benefits over standard rectangular heads. However, there are a couple of downsides to this shape as well. Godox is going strong with their innovations for flashtechnology they didn't steal it from Nikon because they passed Nikon some years ago allready. The interface is indeed much easier to use and a clear improvement. As mentioned earlier, I’d love to see Godox add the ability to toggle on/off but it’s a minor thing. Indeed the interface is one of the main reasons I use the V1 now over the v860ii. Godox V1 vs Godox v860ii I do use NiMH AA batteries in my speedlights. True, they don't get as many shots but this hasn't been a problem for me. I do outdoor shots mostly with Quadra and most indoor shots with Nikon, so the usage of the batteries on the Nikon flashes is rather low on a given day. I just add a little bit of light. I used to do outdoor portraits also with speedlights but run into overheating and that's how the Elinchrom's came into the picture. Nikon have solved the overheating problem in the SB-5000 by using a fan, which seems to work well.

If there are multiple flash groups and channels available, you will be able to control a more significant number of flash units remotely, and you will be able to create a wider variety of lighting setups for your videos. Having a flash with multiple groups and channels will give you more flexibility and control over the lighting. Additional features The umbrella test in this review shows that an umbrella is more evenly lit. However, this is not the whole story: the umbrella used in the review is quite large at 173cm and with a smaller umbrella the difference will no longer be visible. But even so, I did the same test with my 60inch umbrella and sure enough, the round head of the V1 gave a more even illumination, clearly visible. Then I used the built-in wide-angle diffuser of my rectangular flash head and... the difference was gone. The built-in wide-angle diffuser in a rectangular flash head works wonders in an umbrella (you do lose about 1 stop). In fact I use SB-700 with two SB-5000's; the SB-700 is older and I keep it around because it's convenient to use as an on-camera bounce flash while the SB-5000's are then used as radio-controlled remotes. The 860II with its app, long lasting Li-ion cheap battery, full RC (compared to the mix you'd get buying and crippling a SB5000 to work with the SB700) thus better as a system, would make it a nobrainer to me, even more when considering prices. GODOX V1 ROUND HEAD CAMERA FLASH: The TTL Li-ion round head camera flash V1 adopts a round head to offer studio- level soft and even light effects. Its powerful functions and wide range of accessories make it the perfect portable lighting option for portrait, wedding, event, travel and still life photography. Yes, it would. B10 is what caught my eye because it's so compact for such a powerful flash and for outdoor use weight matters a lot, as a heavy flash up there in the air needs a heavier duty stand, sand bag etc whereas a lighter weight flash may not need quite as rugged support. A lot of people use B1's for studio work, I believe. For me the Profotos as a whole are a bit on the pricey side, my Elinchroms were bought at discounts and they have worked well, although the HS Plus radio transmitter is somewhat ridiculous in how long it takes to communicate with the flash units to obtain an update of the current settings. I think Profoto B1's in place of my current lights would have been almost twice as expensive, and it was simply not economically practical. But now the B10 and A1 are very appealing to me as portable lights, they are still expensive but at least they have benefits (I'm aware Godox seems to have copied the A1, though I read Profoto is taking them to court). Which brings up another question: do I want to fund a company that invents a really clever and useful thing (the attachment interface and modifiers of the A1, or a company who copies it and sells it cheap)? I have to say that again in this case my priority would go to the original inventor, even if they have additional costs (R&D costs money).

All I can say is that when I see I have one bar left. I will recharge. I won't push it since sod's law means I will run out of power at THE pivotal moment. Magnetic rim It is important to note that recycling time refers to the amount of time it takes for the flash to recharge after it has fired. Faster recyclability means less waiting between shots. Power output, measured in guide numbers, indicates how bright the flash will be. Look for a flash with a fast recycling time and high power output to suit your specific needs. Through The Lens (TTL) You can mix and match select Godox and Flashpoint gear, but you do need to make sure they use the same communication system. Godox calls it XPro TTL and Flashpoint refers to it as R2 Pro. Rechargeable Convenience Not the B10 but the B10 plus I wouldn't know why a 500W/s light could not work as a main light for 'normal' use?You need a bluetooth enabled transmitter, that can be used with the Godox smart device app, there are two right now, the X2T and the R2 Pro II.
