About this deal

Today, you can get the Ebly, which we get in Europe, in the US too. They are simply sold as Ebly Pure Durum Wheat. According to the Food Standards Agency: “if there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).”

Wheat berries are incredibly common in Europe, and especially in France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Ebly is the brand that popularized instant wheat berries in Europe, so we ended up just calling this grain Ebly in Europe.Aldi has also issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products. I love ebly with baked salmon, such as parchment cooked salmon, and other saucy meat dishes such as Jägerschnitzel.

This has likely happened when Aldi changed supplier for the product, but neglected to consider the change of ingredients that came along with a change in supplier. If you have bought the above product and have coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, do not eat it. In the US and other places, you mainly get hard wheat berries and soft berries. These are not Ebly! According to the Food Standards Agency it now contains wheat (gluten) which is not mentioned on the label, making it a possible health risk for anyone with Coeliac disease or an intolerance to gluten. You can find it by tapping here. You can find Tesco’s own recall notice by tapping here. Please let as many gluten-free people know about this as possible!
