About this deal

Reposado tequila is also aged but the aging process can be anywhere from two months to 11 months. It has a smooth, even finish. It’s less harsh on the tongue and won’t give you as strong as a hangover… provided that you’re sipping responsibly of course. Where it’s from: Casa Noble itself has been around since 1997, and it’s earned its fair share of awards: their Blanco (dubbed “Crystal”) won a New York Times taste test, and their añejo nabbed Gold Medals in assorted spirit competitions. Kristopher DeSoto was on a mission to create a more robust and expressive tequila than the kind usually found on U.S. shelves — and he succeeded. Hiatus uses a ground-to-glass method which combines traditional methods and modern technology, produced by master distiller, Luis Trejo Rodríguez at La Cofradía. The distillery actually sits on the edge of an extinct volcano, whose porous foundation acts as a natural filter for the spring water used to make their tequila.

Celebrity Tequila brands are making it harder for new, up-and-coming brands to get off the ground. Overall, they are raising the demand for Tequila and allowing consumers to try new Tequilas, thus giving smaller brands a chance to grow, albeit at a slower pace. The Casa Noble Tequila Company started as a tequila producer in the late 1700s in the region of Tequila, Jalisco. By 1800, it had a daily production capacity of 10 barrels per day. [4] Casa Noble is made by the well-known Cofradia distillery which remains outside the town of Tequila; owned by Constellation Brands. Producers continued making mezcal with Mexico’s many agave species, but it became clear that one particular plant delivered the best spirits. In 1902, Alsace-born botanist Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber classified this species as Agave tequilana Weber azul, or Weber blue agave. You’ve also probably seen flavored tequila, which is tequila infused with things like coconut, lime, strawberry or jalapeno. While they may be fun for a party or to use in mixed drinks, we recommend skipping these bottles the rest of the time and just drinking tequila straight up. Why mess with a good thing? On the nose, the Maestro Dobel 50 releases notes of fig and dried fruit, with hints of cinnamon and honey. The taste is equally flavorful, with added notes of pumpkin spice and clove on the palette before it gives way to a subtle herbaceous and vanilla finish.

Casa Noble is one of several organic-certified tequila brands, but that’s not why it’s good. No, this is good tequila because it’s a crisp, spicy, flavorful, and very versatile spirit. The brand underwent a redesign in 2021, changing the bottles from their former squat, boxy shape to more elegant decanter-style glass. The liquid has been updated as well, with a focus on barrel selection and blending, and eliminating the single barrel releases you could once find. According to founder and master distiller Jose “Pepe” Hermosillo, this means the reposado and anejo expressions are created by “selecting different barrels according to characteristics and integrating up to 14 lots to create complexity and balance.” These aged expressions spend a longer amount of time maturing than some other brands, with the anejo aged for two years in French oak barrels and the reposado for 364 days. All of the tequila is triple distilled, and the distillery implements many sustainable practices. Marques de Casa Noble came out in 2022, a blend of 12 extra anejo and 9 anejo tequilas matured from one to five years in specially selected French oak barrels that were aged for three years before being filled. With 11 generations of tequila-makers to their name, Maestro Dobel is no stranger to the spirits market, with an entire portfolio of smooth, easy-drinking tequilas available everywhere from country clubs to the finest restaurants in the world.I think this bottles does a good job of balancing the need for branding and marketing while still having a clean look that showcases the spirit. Most reposado tequila is aged in second-fill American bourbon barrels. But Casa Noble believes those types of barrels allow too much char flavor into the tequila. Instead, the light char inside French oak barrels is better suited to the Casa Noble brand. The distillery’s reposado expression ages for one year in used French oak casks, while the añejo spends two years in new barrels before bottling. The reposado barrels are used seven to eight times before being disposed of. The Founder Handles Every Bottle of Extra-Añejo

Like all of Casa Noble’s offerings, this one is certified organic, and has a limited number of bottles in select cities around the country. It’s best sipped slow for a warm, inviting mouthfeel. a b c d "Archived copy" (PDF). Archived from the original (PDF) on 2013-12-03 . All the following tequilas are crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave (which matured for almost twice as long as the usual industry standard of seven years before harvesting), boast a 40% ABV and, unusual for a tequila, they’re triple distilled. How They TasteJose “Pepe” Hermosillo was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. His father was a salesman in the construction and hospitality businesses and introduced his son to the business world at an early age. His father sadly passed away when Jose was 19, which sparked in him the desire to create something to honor his father and their Mexican heritage. Don’t be fooled by the “gold” label on gold tequila. These are often referred to as a “Mixto,” where colors and flavors are added prior to bottling. These young tequilas are less expensive and typically used in bars and restaurants for making mixed drinks.

Blanco: Unaged. Very grassy on the nose, a note that continues through a bright agave expression that features strong hints of lemon and grapefruit. a b c "Archived copy" (PDF). Over the past few years, everyone from George Clooney to Rita Oro has dived into the action. Casa Noble was one of the first brands to align with an A-lister. In 2011, Carlos Santana became part-owner. However, his stake was bought only three years later when Constellation Brands acquired the brand. It Has a Unique Connection to Robert Mondavi And what’s inside the bottles has also changed: The new liquid being “more refined” and “reimagined,” though the tequila remains 100% blue agave and CCOF Certified Organic. We received the new reposado only for review. Hopefully we’ll bring you coverage of the other relaunched expressions down the road. PH: Agave is a plant that takes at least 6 to 7 years to mature, and at Casa Noble, we only use agave plants that are 10 to 12 years in maturity to make our Tequila. Over time, the price has been very cyclical. The balance of supply and demand has produced lows of 0.80 pesos a kilo to peaks of 30 plus pesos a kilo. JM: Cask-finished Tequila, once a rarity, is increasingly common. What cask finishes/liquids best complement Tequila's aroma and flavor profile? After five years of aging (and hard-earned waiting), Casa Noble founder Jose “Pepe” Hermosillo bids adieu to each bottle by signing and numbering the label.
