About this deal

Wire woven from fine brass requires gentle care to maintain its appearance and integrity. The following steps can be taken to maintain fine brass woven wire: Our regency grilles are exact replicas of original grilles that were designed and used in the regency period. We use the same materials, patterns, assembly methods and manufacturing techniques. STRUCTURE OF REGENCY BRASS RADIATOR SCREENS

Weaving is the method of wire panel production in which two distinct sets of wires are interlaced at right angles to form a semi rigid panel. The advantages of weaving over welding are that the decorative woven panel is inherently more attractive with a distinctly authentic and historical appearance. Also the woven wire grille is slightly more flexible under stress, meaning that if wire panels are curved or hit, they can deform briefly but then return to their original state, whereas a welded wire panel would just stay bent. Radiator covers and cabinets are one of the most popular uses for decorative grilles. When used for this purpose the panels of mesh themselves are often referred to as radiator grilles or radiator cover meshes. Unless specially agreed otherwise, rosettes / rivets will always be the same finish choice as the diamond.) Woven grilles are made by weaving wires together, alternately overlapping each one over and under the perpendicular wires to create a lattice. Regency Radiator Grilles Many thanks for your help in this matter – great to work with someone who is truly helpful – it makes a big difference.Brass mesh is the most popular of decorative metal mesh. We manufacture decorative brass mesh by all four manufacturing methods and have departments producing it all day, every day. We offer brass mesh in hundreds of different styles and combinations from fine brass mesh to coarse, machine and hand woven varieties, perforated, assembled with decorative rosettes or expanded. The attractive gold colour of brass mesh makes it the ideal starting point for many of our other attractive finishes. It polishes well and due to being an alloy of copper, also patinates to a range of other attractive finishes. Brass mesh is the base material for antique brass mesh and bronzed mesh. Both the antiqued and bronzed varieties can come in a standard range of shades from light through medium to dark but these can be adapted to match other finishes so long as we are provided with samples of photographs. Whatever project you have in mind, if it involves a mesh to be used decoratively, then we have a solution waiting for you. If you would like a radiator cover grille that is very open in style then choose a large hole and a narrow wire. If you would prefer a radiator mesh that obscures the view through the radiator cover mesh then choose a wider wire with a smaller hole.

Dimensions note:Please note that this is item not advertised as a precision scientific mesh but as a decorative mesh. Sizes are as best measured and should be therefore considered approximate. We use manufacturing, polishing and patinating techniques that we have honed to perfection for over a century, alongside contemporary engineering technologies. Please visit our online calculator where you can experiment with options and create a beautiful decorative grille to suit your style and budget. Sizing: Your decorative grille will be manufactured to the size requested. We do not add any additional amount to fix through at the edges to secure behind your opening. You will need to include this in your required dimensions. (We would recommend approx. 10 to 15mm all around, in a typical application.) Regency radiator cover grilles are most often used where people are choosing grilles that are suitable for an historic environment or to help reproduce one. AUTHENTIC REGENCY RADIATOR SCREENS As well as our range of vents and grilles, we can supply brass meshes in two standard hole and wire sizes that we refer to as ‘fine’ and ‘coarse’. Zinc is a soft metal and as such is not used structurally, It is used in large flat panels as a waterproof membrane on roofs but it's most common use is as a coating to other less weather resistant materials. This process is called galvanising and is most commonly used to cover carbon steel which would otherwise rust without the aid of a zinc coating.Although there are an increasing number of uses for plastic, metal is still the number one material used for making meshes. Metal mesh is still the most durable and versatile type of mesh available. Due to the ductile and tensile strengths of metal it is still one of the most durable and therefore appropriate materials to be made into long thin strands, which are then called wires. The existence of metal wires makes woven metal mesh possible. Copper mesh is one of the more attractive types of fine mesh. Copper mesh can be made by knitting or weaving wires or cutting slots in a sheet and expanding, uses of copper mesh include electro magnetic shielding, filtration, pest management and for decorative purposes. Decoratively copper mesh is used in artworks and in lighting. If you cannot see your desired Regency grille above, you can specify your preference using the following notation: Brass radiator screens can be created by weaving brass wires together to form a lattice. To create different styles of woven grille, different metals can be used as well as different sized wires, different methods of weaving, different hole sizes and orientation.
