About this deal

The list of 11 sports that are compatible with training templates and interval training include: Outdoor running, Treadmill, Outdoor cycling, Indoor cycling, Pool swimming, Rope skipping, Rowing machine, Indoor fitness, Core training, Strength training and Stair climbing. Training templates need to be created on the Zepp App, and up to 40 templates can be stored at a time; interval training can be set directly on the watch. We tested it extensively and didn’t have too many complaints about accuracy. It did come around 70m long over a known 5K race route, so it wasn’t perfect. Automatic GPS Mode: Turn on heart rate monitoring and GPS movement. This mode lasts approximately 44 hours, but the actual duration may vary depending on the satellite signal strength in your location. The Amazfit Cheetah Square has a relatively small 285mAh battery, but does a good job at staying the distance for a watch that's so thin.

When those maps are on, they’re certainly not the richly detailed maps you’ll find on watches like the Garmin Epix or even third-party Apple Watch apps, but it does offer you a little more detail to survey surroundings and get a better sensor of what’s around you. The plans are at least well designed and the sessions weren’t out of the ordinary of other plans we’ve followed in the past and are well built for those new to running or training for their first race. You’re getting a 47mm polymer case with a pretty showy titanium alloy bezel on top, surrounding a nice-sized and good quality 1.45-inch, 480 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen display. The Cheetah Square is certainly thin and light – tipping the scales at just 25g, and measures 9.9mm. That’s 22% lighter than the standard Cheetah, and it’s super light on the wrist.Always-on Display: When the screen is illuminated, it displays system content. When the screen is in standby mode, it displays the time. This function requires users to manually set "Always-on Display". The user can switch on or off this feature through the watch or Zepp App.

Power Saving GPS Mode: Turn on heart rate monitoring and GPS exercise (single frequency, GPS low power consumption). Finally, smaller things like no running with power (though it does have somewhat advanced running metrics like stride length and cadence), a very limited on-watch post-workout data screen (typically forcing you to use the Zepp app, which is actually very good), and intermittent issues with smartphone connectivity might not be make-or-break for the Cheetah Pro, but it does show that Amazfit isn’t 100% there when it comes to their sport-focused devices. Section divider Conclusions As mentioned above, there is an absolute embarrassment of riches when it comes to functions, and while we’ll get into a few that are missing below, it’s tough to find something on your smartwatch wishlist that isn’t already built into the Cheetah Pro. Tri-important functions like open-water swim, triathlon mode, and multisport mode all work well enough for 95% of triathlete’s needs, and we found each customizable (enough) to present the data fields you’d want for most training or racing applications.Amazfit doesn’t entirely get away without grabbing a feature from a rival with its morning report, a clear rip-off of Garmin’s Morning Report feature. VO2 Max on the Cheetah Pro was 53 compared to 56 on our Garmin watch, so there are some good training insights available here. Heart rate accuracy One thing to note, no Bluetooth is calling from the wrist. So it’s a pretty barebones smartwatch experience compared to the likes of the Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch.
