About this deal

If you’d like to read more about it, the NRDC recently released their third sustainability “report card” for common toilet paper brands and both Who Gives A Crap 100% Recycled TP and Premium 100% Bamboo TP are on the list: “The Issue with Tissue 2021 Scorecard.” We’ve used Who Gives A Crap products for years but wanted to learn more about its mission, sustainability and how exactly its products are made. So we chatted with Danny Alexander, co-founder and chief of product and purpose (chief of PP) at Who Gives A Crap, to get the lowdown. Overall, Who Gives A Crap delivers on being the kind of brand that I feel good about spending my money on. Therefore, after trying out a variety of plastic-free toilet paper, both 100% recycled and bamboo, and learning more about the environmental impacts of each, we’ve decided to continue using Who Gives A Crap’s 100% recycled toilet paper, and we really recommend that you try it out too! Both of Who Gives A Crap’s TPs are 3-ply. Their 100% Recycled TP is equal in price or less expensive than the other 3-ply toilet papers listed, and it’s also less expensive than some of the 2-ply TPs.

Each roll is individually wrapped with colorful tissue paper that can be reused, composted, or recycled. I like to reuse them to wrap gifts or DIY fire starters! We wash our faces and bodies with water, so “cleaning” with toilet paper makes no sense, it just feels so much nicer to use water and be really, REALLY clean!" Minimum life based on 'use-by' date of product. Average life based on last week's deliveries. Life guarantee shown based on delivery tomorrow with the Life guarantee starting the following day. We try to reuse the paper wrappers as they are really nice. But they are recyclable and compostable too.Yes, Who Gives a Crap really builds toilets. And they do more than that! You can find a full list of their charity partners here to learn about the good they’re doing. Recycled toilet paper is toilet paper made of paper-type content that has been recycled. The recycled content is classified into two categories: post-consumer and pre-consumer.

If you want to go full on zero waste there are some options for that, such as family cloth and a bidet, but we’re not ready for that switch yet, and that’s where Who Gives A Crap toilet paper comes in. Why is toilet paper bad for the environment?A small amount of paper is produced using alternatives to chlorine such as oxygen, ozone, and hydrogen peroxide. This process is known as Totally Chlorine Free (TCF). When you take into account Who Gives A Crap’s sustainability, its charitable efforts and its top-notch quality, there’s no question that Who Gives A Crap toilet paper is worth it. In our opinion, it’s the best option out there for people who want to shop more consciously. Who Gives a Crap is going to continue to search far and wide for partners that meet theier high standards set for their manufacturing operations. Does Who Gives A Crap really build toilets?

However, while Alexander says Who Gives A Crap’s toilet paper is on par if not better than many of its competitors that use virgin pulp, he knows there is still a section of the market that is used to the most premium toilet paper and won’t want to give that up. “What we’ve done to account for that consumer is look for an alternative fiber that was better for the environment but also has the same quality that they were used to,” he says. The result of that search: bamboo. So these toilet paper rolls are made out of, you guessed it, recycled paper. They use recycled office paper, not used toilet paper, to make this product. Therefore, after using both Sustainable Earth by Staples and Cascades Pro Perform, it was imperative that we find an alternate zero waste toilet paper, which was where Who Gives A Crap came in.

Truthfully, after having used them for many months I actually like the feel of Who Give’s A Crap’s toilet paper so much more. Price of Who Gives A Crap toilet papers One of the smaller companies, Nova Tissue, told us that demand for recycled paper simply isn’t there and that customers overwhelmingly want pure virgin paper. But why is this?Toilet paper was one of the first “zero waste” swaps we made when we started living zero waste. We know that technically, using a non-reusable product like toilet paper isn’t “zero” waste. But living zero waste for us means being more mindful of our choices, so that we can reduce our impact on the environment. Okay, so now that you get why I wanted to move away from conventional toilet paper, let’s get personal and focus on my individual experience with this brand. Here’s my full Who Gives a Crap review! What did you try? Through their advertising, the big toilet paper companies have the power to influence our desires and expectations. If the demand for recycled paper isn’t there, it’s the toilet paper companies who are at least in part to blame. Certified toilet paper on the rise, but is it really sustainable?
