About this deal

This unit also has the largest LCD screen on this list, which is simple and easy to read with push-button controls. Operating similarly to a furnace (which uses forced air), the Vornado has a heating capacity of 256 square feet, with two heating settings, low (750 watts) and high (1,500 watts), and a fan-only mode. We love that it is Energy Star-certified, and has an adjustable thermostat that will keep the heat and circulation levels high enough to maintain your desired temperature. Tower fans work by blowing air over your skin, making living, working and sleeping more comfortable when the thermometer rises.

DEGREE HEAD ROTATION - Customise your comfort with the 180° head rotation of our hot and cold fan, directing airflow exactly where you need it for targeted heating or cooling. We measured fan speed on maximum at 3.08m/s at 15cm, dropping to 1.31m/s at 1m. That’s pretty good, and enough air flow that you can feel this fan across a room, although there are more powerful fans on this list. On the minimum speed, the fan runs at 1.31m/s at 15cm, which is actually a little too powerful and we’d have preferred a greater range in performance. DIVERSE COLOUR OPTIONS - Enhance your home décor with our stylish and cool fan, available in many chic colours to perfectly suit your interior design preferences. Bladeless fans tend to be relatively quiet, although their higher-power modes may be no more silent than a traditional fan. It’s normally the lower settings that are touted as being particularly quiet. Their descriptions should mention how many decibels they produce. It's impressive stuff, but if you purely want a fan that performs well, then in our opinion, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP09 Formaldehyde is an investment you don't need to make. Meaco and Duux offer fans with comparable cooling effects for considerably less cash, but if you're also considering investing in an air purifier, and you have the budget for a Dyson fan's super-cool good looks, this is a stylish investment you may be happy to make.

Vortex Air™ Pro - Bladeless Tower Fan (Heater & Cooler)

ENERGY-SAVING TIMER - Utilize our fan's 1-9 hour timer to conserve energy, whether to stay cool during hot days or to enjoy peaceful, undisturbed sleep at night with our cooling and heating fan. Perfect for unexpected heat waves, this fan has 3 speed settings as well as 3 wind modes. The normal, sleeping and natural wind modes are suitable for any environment. By selecting the night mode, all display lights will turn off and the air flow is a lot quieter. Air flow isn’t particularly fast Unlike a fan, which can’t affect the actual temperature, the evaSMART can reduce the temperature of the air it blows at you: we measured a 3C drop. This is a small amount, but the cooling envelope of air around us made us feel much cooler than if we’d just used a fan.

Choose a larger, free-standing tower fan to cool larger rooms. A fan that can move air at a rate of 100 m ³/minute is suitable for standard living rooms/bedrooms (of approximately 20 m²). Tower fans use up floor space, so they aren’t the best option for smaller houses, but they are still reasonably compact. Firstly, let’s briefly overview how a bladeless fan even manages to produce air. Bladeless fans work by pulling in air in several different ways. They often have a small bladed fan concealed in their base, which draws in some air. Then, the low pressure created within the fan’s hoop pulls in more air from behind. Air is forced out through the narrow slits in the hoop of the fan, and continues in this cycle. Dyson fans all look so distinctive with their bladeless heads that you can put a hand through that theDyson Pure Cool Meimmediately looks different thanks to its ball head. The reason for the design change is that the fan uses Dyson’s Core Flow technology, which lets the convex surface direct a fine stream of air exactly where you want it, making it perfect for personal cooling. Thanks to its DC motor – part of the reason this fan requires a little more investment – it also delivers that cooling airflow almost silently. Whilst it can't quite beat the Duux Whisper Flex Ultimate Fan on the 'virtually silent' front, it comes very close, especially when you consider what powerful airflow this fan can dish out. There's no hint of the dreaded droning noise that's associated with most fans, instead the only noise is of gushing air. With a convenient carry handle, this fan can be lifted and moved from room to room if needed. There’s also a built-in area for storing the remote control when not in use.Rated 5100BTU, the EcoFlow Wave 2 is enough for around a 10m², so smaller rooms, camper vans and tents. On maximum power, we found that it could keep our office room at sensible temperatures, although we did have to shield our south-facing room from the sun for it to cope. Not all fans do this, but some, including every Dyson and the SmartAir, also help to clean the air they're distributing. Some have filters that trap pollutants, while the Dimplex Ion Fresh Cooling Tower Fan freshens air around it by emitting neutralising ions. Do fans use a lot of electricity? The EcoFlow Wave 2 is not cheap, but if you want a highly versatile air conditioning unit, there’s nothing quite like this. If you don’t want to use the light, either as a nightlight or colourful statement lamp, it can be switched off separately to the fan, so the fan function remains running. On ‘quiet’ mode, which is the lowest fan setting, the noise is minimal, and suitable for most people to sleep with – it doesn’t deliver a particularly strong flow of air, but when positioned nearby seems sufficient for keeping cool on warm nights.

A couple of negatives to mention. The first is that this fan doesn’t come with a remote control. It needs to be adjusted using the control panel so, if you’re changing the settings at night, you will need to get out of bed. There’s also no timer function which is a little disappointing given the price of this fan. On average, a fan heater will use about 1 to 2 kWh of electricity, or about 1,000 to 2,000 watts, for every hour the device is on (most on our list top out at 1,500 watts on high heat). Many people prefer these units for supplementary heating and cooling as they use significantly less energy than an air conditioner. The final thing to note is that this fan does require some assembly. While this is relatively easy, putting the two base pieces together can be fiddly.Firstly, we consider its power, looking at the strength of each setting and the difference between them. To do this, we use an anemometer to understand how much air it blows, measured in feet per minute. The greater the range of speeds and the wider the difference between them, the more you can adjust the fan to suit you.
