If you’re new to RME interfaces, it’s worth noting that whilst the Fireface 400 has long been discontinued, it’s actually still receiving updates(!), and like its sibling the Fireface 800, can even be used with the latest M1 Macs and Mac OS Big Sur (via a somewhat mad combination of adapters).The original Fireface UCX was one of RME’s most popular interfaces, and we’ve no doubt its successor will prove to be just as important an entry in the history of RME Audio.

The specially developed, internal hi-performance switch mode power supply lets the 802 operate in the range of 100V to 240V AC, thus can be operated all over the world. It is short-circuit proof, has an integrated line-filter, is fully regulated against voltage fluctuations, and suppresses mains interference. Stand Alone Operation with Setup RecallWith a whole host of new features as well as a front panel and user interface redesign that brings the UCX II in line with the UFX series, the UCX II has become RME’s flagship portable USB audio interface. The new display adds full metering for all 20 input and 20 output channels, whilst four buttons and a large rotary encoder provide access to the unit’s features and settings – including input gains and output levels; EQ and FX controls; the saving and loading of states to the device; as well as controls for recording with DURec. Additionally, the optional TotalMix FX for iPad app adds full control over the TotalMixhardware mixer, giving users the ability to create, store and load complete mixes directly from the iPad. In terms of product, overall, this device is really great. The product has no scratches on the surface. So beautiful.
