About this deal

Admittedly, the price tag is high, especially considering you can make a fire pit out of a steel shopping basket, dustbin or old washing machine drum! However, the Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 burns very efficiently, and uses precious little fuel, while producing barely any ash, and is more or less smokeless, all of which means it punches way above regular fire pits. And, if you do buy into the Solo Stove hype, you should be set for life thanks to its lifetime guarantee. This sleek-looking, compact fire pit is perfect for home or away use. Solo Stove prides itself on its ‘smokeless fire pit’ design; the clever double-walled structure draws air into the bottom of the burner where it’s fed to the top, resulting in a secondary, smokeless burn. Once you start using a smokeless fire pit you’ll want to use one all the time. That’s why a portable fire pit is so nice to have. You can bring your fire pit anywhere that allows a relaxing fire and enjoy less smoke. We fed logs as needed to keep the wood loaded even with the rim, which had flames extending 12 to 24 inches out of the fire pit, creating a comfortable warm zone. The X Series is the shortest model we tested, which meant that we could feel more heat radiating lower on our knees as we sat two feet from the fire pit. Don’t make your pit too small or too big. Too small and the fire won’t get started; too big and it can get out of control. The average size is 0.9-1.2 metres wide.

Don’t burn wood that’s been treated, painted or stained as it can produce toxic chemicals when lit. What is the best fuel for fire pit? This is one of the cheapest fire pits on our list but it’s sturdy, well made and more versatile than many of the other models. We like the addition of the mesh lid and that the stone textured surround is large enough to place a drink or plate on. The steel will oxidise naturally over time, so it shouldn't need much maintenance. Where to buy a fire pit It’s not recommended to build around a Solo Stove as it can obstruct ventilation and increase the risk of fire. There are several types of fire pits to consider when you’re looking for the perfect fire pit for your garden, including gas fire pits, tabletop fire pits, portable fire pits and traditional iron Kadai fire pits. Take a look at our ‘How to buy the best fire pit for your garden’ feature at the end of this article for more details about the different options.

The portable fire pit comes with a useful carry bag and gloves and the mesh can simply be rolled up and stored with the legs and clips after use.Fire pits are an excellent buy and they’re incredibly effective at producing heat, as well as creating an attractive focal point. First for the science bit. Solo Stove’s smokeless situation works via secondary burn, made possible thanks to its double-skin steel construction with vent holes at the top and bottom. Cool air is pulled through the bottom, heats up within the double cavity, and rises to the top, which invokes secondary combustion as the hot air exits the top vents. If you’re looking for an attractive, large fire pit that will fit plenty of logs, burn for hours and give out plenty of heat, we’d really recommend this model.

The main point to note is that you should not overfill the Bonfire 2.0. If the wood/kindling sits higher than the upper vent holes (inside the rim) you will stuff any hopes of smoke-free burning and it’ll also compromise the airflow burning system, too. Patio heaters are powered by gas or electric and come in all shapes and sizes. You can also find heaters for a wide range of budgets. Yes, a Solo Stove can get wet or rained on, but it’s recommended to cover the stove with a protective cover when not in use to prevent rusting and damage. The use of charcoal, along with the optional Outpost Grill attachment, makes the Y-series a competent barbecue. You can cook over wood as well, and the height of the grill surface is adjustable so you can keep clear of the flames. We appreciated the adjustable legs which raised the top of the fire pit up to 20 inches and made the grill surface easier to reach. Heat radiates well from the Y-Series when loaded up with logs. The 15-inch body height allowed for more heat to be felt on our lower extremities. The carry bag is substantial and doubles as a cover once the Bonfire 2.0 has fully cooled. I didn’t find it very easy to get the Bonfire 2.0 into the bag without assistance, but once in, it’s definitely easier to carry. Because of its weight, I wouldn’t want to schlep it very far though!

The fire pit table will incorporate a gas cylinder, pump out plenty of heat and is an attractive and good value addition to your outdoor space. The versatility and great looks of this product make it one of the best gas fire pits on our list. Smokeless Elegance: One of the chief gripes with traditional fire pits is the inevitable smoke that can turn a delightful gathering into a teary-eyed affair. The Fiesta Garden Stove, on the other hand, employs innovative design and technology to minimize smoke production. This ensures your autumn evenings are filled with warmth and comfort, minus the smoky discomfort.Solo Stove’s Bonfire 2.0 is an update to the Bonfire we previously tested, now including a removable ash pan. While its smokeless performance remains unchanged, the ash pan does add about five pounds to the overall weight.
