About this deal

When James was two years old, his mother gave birth to his half-sister Lauren Zoe Onions (later known as Lauren Adams, taking on the same crypto-surname as her brother). His mother married Lauren's father, Ronald 'Ron' Onions, who was verbally and physically abusive towards James. He is described in The Recruit as being like "a loud, smelly rug". However, Ron does not live with them and only visits when he wants money from Gwen. James and Dana hooked their strops on to the cable, as an announcement loud enough to be heard in a war zone blasted out of a speaker beside them. Mad Dogs is about a gang war over drugs and power. James uses his friendship with Junior Moore (a former drug dealer’s son – read CHERUB: Class A) to get involved in a gang called the Mad Dogs. James must use all of his training and skill if he wants to get involved in the most deadly gang around. Will he survive! Access-restricted-item true Addeddate 2011-11-11 19:26:25 Boxid IA174001 Camera Canon EOS 5D Mark II City London Date-raw October 1, 2007 External-identifier We really see Bruce and James bond (< I just noticed this promise it wasn't meant xD) a lot over the course of this mission through mature conversations. James loses his V-card to Lois and its hard to deny that most boys that age would turn down the offer. James is obviously a good looking guy who attracts the attention of both sexes ( cough Wheels) and we just have to live with that and be proud of our boy. Bruce talks James through his increasingly bad rep on campus and we see James mature by telling Dana he's made a big mistake, worried the lies will play on his mind and ruin the relationship.

To ensure that as many people as possible made the drop smoothly, the most confident trainees – mainly ones who’d jumped when they were red-shirts – were lined up first. As soon as the first trainee was out the next had to stand with their toes overhanging the door. After waiting in a crouching position for the two seconds it took the previous jumper to clear the aircraft, it was their turn to leap. I loved Mad Dogs in my younger days and it was exactly how I remember it. One thing that did surprise me was the amount of character development covered. Bruce Norris is a CHERUB agent who is friends with James. Bruce is a small but very strong kid; he is a campus karate champion. Kerry Chang is a James' main love interest throughout most of the series. She befriends James in the first novel and helps him get through basic training. She is also a Hong-Kong born karate champion. CHERUB is a branch of British Intelligence. Its agents are aged between 10 and 17 years. Cherubs are mainly orphans who have been taken out of care homes and trained to work undercover. They live on CHERUB campus, a secret facility hidden in the English countryside.

Follows the reunion of four old sixth form friends. They head to Spain to visit the fifth member of the gang, but things take a dark turn. I did one in basic training. Come to think of it, I did a couple before then; when I was a red-shirt.’ The Killing is a lot smaller-scale and less dramatic than the stories immediately before and after it, and none of the main characters ever end up in real danger, even if the subject matter itself is still pretty serious, involving an armed robbery conspiracy, corrupt cops, police brutality, and a murder cover-up. Fittingly, the mission itself is only classified as "low-risk", while the missions in the novels before and after it are both "high-risk". This book dives deeper into the darker themes and tones set in The Fall as our characters grow up and the violence intensifies.

Author/Illustrator

There Are No Therapists: Averted. James sees therapists on a regular basis (though usually off screen) to deal with some of the traumatic experiences he goes through, and some of his anger management issues. Other characters are sometime sent to counseling. Girl on Girl Is Hot: Two girls make-out at a Wild Teen Party in Brigands M.C., much to the delight of some of the teenage boys. The end notes of Shadow Wave say that James did not cheat on Kerry in his first year at university (she hadn't yet retired from CHERUB yet), though she suspected otherwise.

Western Terrorists: All the actual terrorists depicted in the first series are Western terrorists, including the eco-terrorist group Help Earth! ( Fictional Counterpart to Earth First!) and the Animal Freedom Militia ( Fictional Counterpart to the Animal Liberation Front). In The Sleepwalker it appears that a plane might have been destroyed by Muslim terrorists, however it turns out that the real villain is really just a Corrupt Corporate Executive that was selling shoddy parts to the airliners. Totally Radical: Robert Muchamore tries hard to get the slang right, but sometimes messes up, particularly in his earlier books. For example, his fans at CherubForums.com complained about him having teen characters use the word "dude." Initially, the series follows James Choke, better known as James Adams (his adopted name at CHERUB), as he enters CHERUB and performs various missions. However, the focus later expands to other characters, such as James' sister Lauren and several other characters who work alongside him and in separate missions. The initial series of 12 novels runs from the recruitment of Adams aged 11 to his retirement from CHERUB at age 17. The second series of five novels, Aramov, follows Ryan Sharma, another CHERUB agent; James Adams reappears in this series as a CHERUB staff member. Greg "Rat" Rathbone is about a year younger than James. He is Lauren Adams' boyfriend. He was recruited in the fifth book, Divine Madness.Kerry is flown to hospital to have surgery on her knee. Kerry later apologises for her outburst and says that when she broke Bruce's leg he was cool about it, so she is not trying to hold a grudge against him. Mac subsequently punishes James and the others (pointing out that James and Gabrielle are equally responsible due to the teasing that took place before the fight) by giving them laps and gardening duties. Wake Up, Go to School, Save the World: Pretty much the entire point of the series. Teenagers deal with the normal pressures of teen school and social life on top of their challenging missions.

Some of the most detestable antagonists in the series are cemented as horrendous beyond redemption by the fact they beat their children, such as Hassam bin Hassam in The Sleepwalker (who is also the first villain to be killed instead of captured at the end) and The Führer in Brigands M.C. Muchamore, Robert (2011). People's Republic. Aramov. Vol.1. Hodder & Stoughton. ISBN 978-1-4449-0610-3. Eli and his gang are still active at the end of Lone Wolf, receiving no punishment beyond Eli's lieutenant and a couple of Mooks ending up in jail. James was born under the name James Robert Choke in Tufnell Park, London on October 27, 1991. He lived with his half-sister Lauren and his mother, Gwen Choke, who ran the largest shoplifting empire in North London from an armchair in their living room. James didn't know who his father was, though it is revealed in a deleted chapter from Divine Madness (as well as at the end of the book Shadow Wave) that he was a mathematics professor. Also applies to the white supremacist gang leaders, Elwood and Kirch. Both are total psychos presumably in prison for hate crimes who brutally beat up, bully and torment weaker inmates. Neither of them are antagonists, and Elwood is downright friendly toward James after he buddies up with Curtis.Mad Dogs is a long one, this is a long one AGAIN so I greatly appreciate any who reads all that and if you do... My sixteen-year-old son read The Recruit in one sitting, then went out the next day and got the sequel.’ Sophie Smiley, teacher and children’s author
