About this deal

Michael famously loves a bit of Steps and especially S-Club 7’s iconic Reach, revealing: "I made him do it in the last concert." As Michael thrusts his hands in the air and sings "Reach for the stars…" Alfie groans, "I’m not doing that again" and then, of course, joins in, complete with hands aloft.

With Alfie adding: “ Playing Vegas has always been a dream of mine and finally it’s becoming a place I'm performing and spending more time in. Making the latest Ball and Boe record Vegas-themed was exciting to us for many reasons. There is an energy in Vegas that lights up in a way nowhere else does, and it felt like the perfect moment in time to bring that energy into our new album. It’s a chance to let go and have some fun, especially after a pandemic, and it’s important for our incredible fans to feel that excitement with us. Everyone is in need of a bit of Vegas in their lives right now!” Having enjoyed this record a lot, Bobby is almost loathe to let some raindrops fall from our rainbow review, but it does bear mentioning that their next to last cut, AMERICAN TRILOGY, is a medley that does begin with the socially passé DIXIE (as in, "I wish I was In the Land Of Cotton..." and so on), and while this does tribute Elvis & Vegas, and is in line with the theme of the album, perhaps these two Brits missed the memo that we don't Do Da Dixie any more. Their final song, Neil Diamond's (Coming To) AMERICA, while a good song performed very well by both, doesn't really offer the punch one would hope for, to close out an otherwise exciting musical journey. AB: The pandemic was a prime example. We all got very creative. Lots of online performances and things like that. But we have a duty as entertainers to entertain. And despite what’s thrown at you, we will take the performance to people and give them some joy in any way we can. Dave Arch, famous for being the Musical Director for Strictly Come Dancing is also the mastermind behind the orchestration on this album. The orchestra was recorded in Prague and the rhythm section formed of the highest pedigree of session musicians in the UK was recorded at British Grove Studios in London. The collection of songs was a pleasure to work through. The theme being Las Vegas, it includes a Franki Valli and a Tom Jones medley, plus songs such as The Gambler, Sway and American Trilogy by Elvis. With live big band musicians, and a dynamic, powerful production, this album is truly joyous to listen (and dance away) to.AB: And it also feeds other businesses like bars, restaurants, taxi drivers. It creates a lot of work for a lot of people. The 90min special sees the pair meet Las Vegas's record-breaking headline performer, Wayne Newton, who has played over 30,000 shows in the city. Michael discovers the magic that made Liberace a Las Vegas legend and Alfie tests his cooking skills and takes a night flight down the legendary strip. The special also features incredible performances from the pair that truly sum up the magic that is 'Fabulous Las Vegas'. Michael and Alfie then also perform 'American Trilogy', from their album Together In Vegas, on the same stage that Elvis performed his record-breaking Las Vegas run. With Alfie adding: "Playing Vegas has always been a dream of mine and finally it's becoming a place I'm performing and spending more time in. Making the latest Ball and Boe record Vegas-themed was exciting to us for many reasons. It's a chance to let go and have some fun, especially after a pandemic, and it's important for our incredible fans to feel that excitement with us. Everyone is in need of a bit of Vegas in their lives right now!" It's Alfie whos says: "I’d do Strictly. I’d love to do it. Give it a shot. I’ll borrow the sequins off Michael."

All in All, my lambs, Michael Ball & Alfie Boe - TOGETHER IN VEGAS was a fine listening feast and is an album to return to over and over again, as the years go by. Along with just great earworms, it would be AWESOME housework music, so we give this one a really nice... We do it better than anyone in the world. It’s a vital part of our identity. It’s just positive, and we need positives, especially at the moment. But I know it’s hard. If you’ve got a choice between paying your heating bill and going to see a pantomime, you know what you’re going to do. That just shouldn’t be a choice you have to make.
