While I wouldn't classify Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as a 'dog book', I would also be remiss if I didn't mention Fang - and, frankly, all the overlooked superstar dogs of children's books. Is it too much to wish, somewhere down the line, that Fang will tell his own tale? Because surely he is braver than J. K. Rowling has portrayed him (or possibly not!) Combining suspense, mystery, the trauma of grief, and the romance of nostalgia, this is one of the more complex fiction books about dogs, as Paul’s efforts with Lorelai mix with his attempts to process the trauma of his wife’s death. It’s a creative way to freshen up the short story collection, and readers can enjoy comparing the initially imagined progression of humankind to what actually happened, seeing as we have over 70 extra years of events to go by now. The Must Have Gift for Dog Lovers
This is the foundation that good training is built upon. If you can get your dog to trust you, then you are able to train them properly. If your dog does not trust you, then you are going to have no success with training them whatsoever. Though I usually am drawn toward weightier dramas, I have to admit that I also just love a good, lighthearted romantic comedy. Shhh, don’t tell anyone. Add a dog to the mix? I’m hooked. True Story Vs. Non-fiction. A “true story” is technically non-fiction, but I’ve separated “true stories” to be more of memoir style novels, whereas “non-fiction” is reserved for more training or scientific/informative books. We’ve done an in-depth post about our favorite dog memoirs, so you won’t find too many on the following lists, but I wanted to give a special shoutout to one of my all-time favorite doggy-themed books, Mark Doty’s Dog Years. What this means is that he has the knowledge and experience that will teach you exactly how to overcome the same problems in the exact same way that he did, which make a difference with even the worst behaving dog.
