In the VOX Mini Superbeetle, this NuTube technology helps to reproduce the tonal character of the legendary VOX AC30, with those recognisably chimey, sparkling tones that have been present in the mainstream music scene since the 1960s. Not only that, but the Overdrive and Tremolo sections of the amp are powered by this new technology too, and are complimented by the built-in digital reverb, all of which helps in dramatically improving your tone-shaping capabilities.

Mercifully, times have changed. The quest for volume has been superseded by the desire for portability. "Small" is the new "loud". Vox have embraced this philosophy fully - their Night Train heads were one of the early spearheads of the lunchbox revolution, and their MV50 heads provide huge amounts of toneful power in a format smaller than some pedals. The Mini Super Beatle is built from the same platform as the latter, with a 50w solid state poweramp and a NuTube preamp. These clever little micro tubes operate in a very similar way to the venerable 12AX7, but without the size or the heat. Ironically, this makes the Mini Super Beatle more of a "tube amp" than the original! With a sophisticated sense of design that's arguably unmatched by any other amp manufacturer, VOX amps often resonate strongly with fans of that vintage British Invasion sound. Aber man kann 4/8/16 Ohm Boxen anhängen, ein Test mit 12 Zoll Speakern steht noch aus, kann mir aber vorstellen, dass der Amp dann absolut gigtauglich ist. Noch ein Punkt zum Lautsprecher: wenn der Master zu niedrig eingestellt ist, klingt er leicht kratzig, er benötigt also durchaus eine gewisse Grundlautstärke. Falls sich das nicht ändert, wenn er mal einige Zeit eingespielt ist. Darum ein Stern Abzug beim Sound.

It gets pretty loud, way louder than you’d need for just noodling or practicing, which will be good if you intend on using it for small gigs, jamming at a reasonable volume at a friends house etc. I am impressed with how loud it can get being such a small amp, single 10” speaker and imitation tubes, it’s pretty impressive that way.
