About this deal

This was it, the moment she’d been waiting for. She closed her eyes and prepared to be carried away to a land of heroes and monsters by the magic of the words. Pelonia has lost everything but her life and her God; if it were known that she was one of "the deviants," they would take her life as well. As it stands, she is a slave to the infamous Caros Viriathos, head of the gladiator training school and x-gladiator himself. When he first sees her, he is drawn to her instantly. He buys her from the slave trader, hoping to win her heart. She also feels for him, but vows she will not be a slave forever. He wants only to keep her near, while she wants her freedom.

The novel was made into a comedy movie in 1938 starring Joe E. Brown and released only two months after Superman first appeared on newsstands. [5] Comics [ edit ] Pero el emperador muere y sus deseos no se pueden ver cumplidos y su hijo toma el mando de manera un tanto irregular. Y bueno, ya se sabe una vez en le poder a eliminar a la competencia. But the thing that really let me down the most was the writing. I felt that the speech and mannerisms in this book were far too modern for the setting. It’s set in Ancient Rome and yet the characters spoke with modern day slang. It just didn’t fit with the time period and I could not sink into the story as much as I wanted to.

We are all capable of locating greatness within us and achieving hitherto unimaginable feats. Whether you are old and wise or young and bursting with energy, there are limits you are imposing on yourself that this book will help you reconsider. As they stepped out on to the sand, the air about them exploded in a frenzy of cheers and wild yelling, accompanied by the thunder of trumpets and the steady beat of the drums. However that night, tragedy strikes. Vita’s father is killed and Vita, still dressed as a slave, is taken captive. Mourning her father and with no way of finding out what happened to her mother and brother, Vita finds herself sharing a cell with the fierce Brea and her semi-tame wolf in the terrifying gladiator training grounds. The Gladiator Mindset is the debut self-help/autobiography from Adam Peaty where he teaches his ten steps involved in building the "Gladiator Mindset". The book covers a diverse range of topics from defining your goals, to welcoming adversity as a chance to grow. Peaty also talks about his own anger growing up and how he channelled that into his swimming as well as discussing the talent vs. graft debate.

Caros was a slave, gladiator, rich man who had a kind and gentle heart, especially toward Pelonia. Pelonia was sold to Caros under a despicable situation. At first she questioned, "Why, Lord?" but then she realized that God had put her right there to be a witness to Caros. And witness she did! This article needs additional citations for verification. It's still not on a par with a number of other Roman fiction authors I've read but it's a good, enjoyable way to spend your time I guess. I personally, wouldn't have minded having an x-rated copy of this book. Maybe Harlequin has something similar in one of their more "adult" lines. Gladiator + slave = yes please. Slaves during these times were often used for more than just cleaning *ahem*. The only thing that would ruin it is that I wasn't a big fan of Caros. He is supposedly pretty hot, but his personality ruined it for me. He was sort of soft to me. Maybe because I did want to see a more rough and dominating male as the love interest. But then, I had to remind myself, "settle down this is a Christian romance..."

Vita and the Gladiator – at a glance

The main theme of the book is based on the bible verse (Roman 8:28) "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose." .
