Cuprinol Exterior Wood Preserver: A water-based exterior wood preserver for all sawn wood including sheds, fences, cladding, and more. Can be used on previously pressure treated and tanalised wood and provides a water-repellent properties to protect wood against weathering, wood rot and blue stain

Like paint, wood preservers come in solvent-based and water-based varieties. Each type has advantages and disadvantages. Eradicates woodworm and protects against wood discolouring fungi and water damage. Both can be overcoated with an exterior wood oil or log cabin treatment to seal in the preservative and protect the structure from the effects of weathering. To seal in the wood preserver and provide the best all-round wood protection, garden fences treated with a fence preservative can usually be treated with an exterior wood oil, suitable for garden fences, once the preserver has fully dried, usually after 72 hours. This will help to keep fence panels supple and nourished whilst protecting against water ingress and weathering. Some external wood oils also contain UV filters that will help to preserve the fence colour for longer.

Wood preserver is basically an undercoat. You brush or spray it onto raw, freshly sawn or sanded wood surfaces to stabilise the wood’s moisture content and protect it from rot and decay.
