About this deal

MOMENTUM 4 Wireless offers multiple customisations to enable users to adapt the sound to their unique preferences. An all-new lightweight design is optimised for acoustic performance, with deep cushioned earpads to ensure exceptional and long-lasting wearing comfort. The synthetic leather ear pads offer both optimum comfort and high precision in reproducing sound and ANC performance.  Improved Connectivity Stability: Some users have reported occasional issues with connection stability. Enhanced Bluetooth connectivity that ensures a seamless and uninterrupted audio experience is high on the wish list for the next model. Although Sennheiser has not officially announced any information on a Momentum True Wireless 4 as of 2023, it’s reasonable to speculate its arrival. Given Sennheiser’s reputation for consistently producing high-quality audio products, it is likely that they would continue to innovate and iterate their successful product lines.

To adjust the headphones on the head, the swivelling hinges offer a degree of movement, while the headband has an adjustable slider. The headband is also wider, absorbing pressure across the head. It’s covered in a nice fabric that mimics the case of the Momentum True Wireless 3. Its underside is finished in a silicone material, with a soft centre to accommodate that slight ridge on the top of people’s skulls – a thoughtful consideration. They weigh 293g, but feel lighter. Users have reported experiencing a drop in mic audio quality via USB. We have retested Recording Quality, but the scoring of this test hasn't changed. Behind this is a new technology including four mics. So tiny differences between these four signals enable the digital circuitry to accurately calculate direction of sound and optimally calculate a cancellation signal. Or optimize the audibility when voice-through mode is activated, so you really have a chance to understand either the plane attendant or the announcement in the train. Multipoint connects two devices at the same time, such as your phone for music and your laptop for video calls, and works extremely well. They come with a 2.5mm-to-3.5mm analogue headphones cable and can play audio over USB-C at the same time as charging, similar to the B&W PX7, giving you plenty of connectivity options.

What should you get instead of the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless?

Stay immersed in your music: Thanks to the headphone's Adaptive Noise Cancellation, you stay distraction-free - and with the Adjustable Transparency Mode you stay in touch with the world around you.

They have effective noise-cancelling that can meaningfully reduce rumbles, fan and road noise, and do a reasonable job on higher-pitched tones such as voices or keyboard taps in an office. They can’t quite match the very best from Sony or Bose, but they aren’t too far off. The adaptive system automatically turns down the noise-cancelling when in quieter places and they handle wind noise very well – something that trips up some competitors. And that’s why the new Sennheiser Momentum 4 is so important: it’s not just the fourth version of the brand wireless flagship, it’s also the first Momentum built under the Sonova presidency. Has the torch been passed on? Time to discover that The Momentum Series

Lovely big ear cups and only one physical button needed. (Image credit: TechRadar) Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless review: design The battery in the headphones is not replaceable but Sennheiser estimates it will maintain at least 80% of its original capacity after 30,000 hours of listening, which is 27 years of listening three hours a day, meaning it is never likely to need replacing. Using the headphones in passive mode (no battery in use, plugged in with the cable) is really the last use case for this model (and the intended customer use-case) The up-to-60-hours battery was implemented to constantly drive the DSP, which offers the best sound quality, even when ANC is on” We've retested these headphones using firmware 2.13.18. While it didn't change our sound results, new features were added to the companion app, and we have raised App Support from '8.0' to '8.5'.The Momentum 3 sound like the listener is front and centre right up against the stage, while the Momentum 4 Wireless sound as if you are in the venue’s sweet spot. Not only does this allow for a greater sense of holographic space, it allows the sound be breathe, creating an out-of head experience with far more accurate detail and resolve. When users need to talk to others or hear surrounding sounds without removing their MOMENTUM 4 Wireless, the versatile Transparency Mode lets them hear outside sounds through the headphones at a touch. And for a truly tailored experience, the Sennheiser Smart Control app makes it easy to customize the sound using the built-in EQ, sound modes and the new Sound Personalization feature. This assesses the user’s listening preferences and adjusts the listening experience according to their taste. Product Improvement: If there are significant enhancements or innovations that Sennheiser has developed since the True Wireless 3’s release, a new model could provide an opportunity to introduce these features. The M4 is a set of feature-rich headphones. Although the M4 was not quite comfortable for me, I did not spend time to test all the features. I will keep this review short. I will also compare the M4 with my AirPods Pro (Gen 1) since that’s my only Bluetooth earphones in the similar price range.

Other than its predecessor, they are build out of plastic. This doesn't have to be bad. There is plastic and then there is plastic. My HD 580 Jubilee are also mostly made out of plastic and are still standing strong. I just hope, that the plastic used in the Momentum 4's can withstand sun exposure, because I'm mainly going to wear them out and about. Only time will tell. I really like the Bluetooth connectivity of M4. The Bluetooth pairing was very easy with my iPhone, LG V30 phone as well as my laptop. The M4 can connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time. I can play music on iPhone then switch over to the V30 without having to disconnect the iPhone. I do need to pause the music on iPhone before using the V30. The setup of the Sennheiser Smart Control App is very easy and smooth for the Android phone (V30). However, it took me several attempts to connect the Smart Control App to M4 on the iPhone.

Sennheiser’s fourth-generation cans shine sonically, despite their plain looks

Connecting the headphones to my phone was as easy as it gets. The Android app also works without any problems. Only thing I don't like is the need to make an account for the custom EQ thing.
