Orange Extract (Optional): Add orange extract for a strong orange flavour. If you’re using plain chocolate, you can add orange extract to create a chocolate orange taste. The longer you rest the milk with the orange peels, the stronger the citrusy flavour will get. You can taste after 10-15 minutes and if you prefer it punchier let the peels infuse more. Orange - Freshly squeezed orange juice works best in the recipe. Plus you can use the same orange to grate some zest to garnish your drink and add the rinds to the milk. If you don’t like hot chocolates that are too sweet, use their dark chocolate orange instead of milk. Bear in mind that their dark chocolate orange is quite lite. Pure Orange Hot Chocolate

First: Melt the chocolate. Begin by adding the chopped dark chocolate and the milk to a saucepan, whisking frequently over medium heat until the chocolate has melted, being careful that it doesn't burn.Milk - There are many different kinds of milk that you can choose from, such as almond milk or oat milk. But if you want my personal preference, I would recommend whole cow's milk. Milk: Use full-fat milk for a creamy hot chocolate. You can use other milk types like semi-skinned milk or even plant-based milk alternatives. Use can use vegan chocolate and add a quarter teaspoon of orange extract. Another alternative is to mix cocoa powder with orange extract to recreate the chocolate orange flavour. But the best option would be to buy vegan chocolate orange like this one. Add a cup of milk to a saucepan, over medium heat. Add in unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar, zest of one orange, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Give it a stir, and once it starts to simmer and rise, add in the rest of the milk. Serve warm. For toppings, you can’t go wrong with lightly whipped cream, piled on top of the hot chocolate in big pillowy spoonfuls. I also added some chocolate shavings, although hot fudge sauce would be equally delicious. And finally, I had some candied orange slices left over from another project, so each mug got one of those as well. Totally optional, but I think we can all agree they’re pretty freaking cute that way.

I like to serve it a little more bitter, because I love to top my hot chocolate with either sweet marshmallows or sweet whipped cream to balance it out. Just like I do my Mexican hot chocolate.
