About this deal

OnePlus Buds Z2 and OnePlus phones, when used together, will provide the best experience. OnePlus Buds Z2 are also compatible with Bluetooth® devices; the longest Bluetooth® transmission distance is 10m between OnePlus Buds Z2 and the Bluetooth® device. Due to the nature of Bluetooth®, electromagnetic interference in the area may cause the connection to break. The Bullets Wireless Z2 is a comfortable headset. The ear tips are made out of soft rubber and have the oval design found on the OnePlus Buds Pro and Buds Z2. They fit the ears well and can stay there for hours without being uncomfortable. There is also a multi-function button provided, which actually just does two things. You can press and hold it to start the pairing mode or you can double-press it to instantly switch to the previously connected device. All the buttons work well and have a good quality feel to them. The bass response on the Bullets Wireless Z2 is garish. It has an exaggerated upper and mid-bass response, which can be overbearing. The bass is tolerable when listening at lower volumes but becomes genuinely fatiguing at higher volumes, not to mention obnoxious and overpowering over the rest of the frequency response. The build quality and finish of the headset is very good. The rubber feels pliant and durable, and the plastics all have a quality feel. The rubber for the cables is also striated. The headset is also IP55 rated, so it can survive being splashed with water. Comfort

Product images and display contents are illustrative only. Actual product and display contents may vary. This is a shame because the mid-range is actually quite good. Vocals have a smooth and mellow timbre that's very pleasing to listen to. Instruments have a similarly pleasant tonality to them, with everything from the piano to the guitar coming through quite well. OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC has a battery life of 28 hours with ANC off, 20 hours with ANC on and 16 hours of talk time. Endurance test data is based on OnePlus laboratory tests conducted at 50% volume. Specific endurance performance will vary based on actual conditions and is affected by volume, output source, environmental interference, product features, software versions and usage habits. The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 strongly resembles its predecessor, but there are small changes that set it apart Latency in applications was poor. Games and music apps demonstrated notable delay, with apps like piano players having almost half a second of latency after a key was pressed. As usual, I would recommend wired audio if latency is important to you or if you want to use the microphone while gaming. The Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC have mediocre audio quality by default. The sound is the same overwhelming bass-heavy assault that has now become the OnePlus house sound.

In terms of technical performance, Bullets Wireless Z2 have a moderate level of resolution and detail in the sound. This usually comes down to the choice of drivers used rather than the codec, although a higher bit rate codec couldn't have hurt. Imaging and soundstaging were unobjectionable and offered some space and directionality to the sound that made the overall presentation pleasant to listen to. The new ANC mode on the Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC also worked reasonably well. It does its best with low-frequency sounds, so things like the sound of an aircraft or bus engine, while also being decent for household sounds such as air conditioners and fans. It doesn't do so well with mid and high-frequency sounds but that's generally the domain for bigger and more expensive headphones.

Bigger drivers on the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2

In my testing, the Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC lasted for 19 hours and 38 minutes with ANC enabled and 27 hours and 7 minutes with ANC disabled. After a 10-minute charge, the earbuds played for 14 hours and 36 minutes with ANC enabled and 20 hours and 21 minutes with ANC disabled. Any changes you make in the app get saved on the earbuds, which means they get carried over to the next device, even if the device is something like a PC that does not support the app. Performance The Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC feature 12.4mm titanium-coated dynamic drivers. The earbuds support SBC and AAC codecs over a Bluetooth 5.2 connection. Latency can be reduced to as low as 94 ms when paired with select OnePlus phone devices, with Pro Gaming mode turned on. Based on software updates to the phone, the above actions may be slightly modified, and the actual OTA content may differ from that specified.

A 10-minute charge keeps your music going for 5 hours. (5 hours of battery life is measured based on combination of earbuds and the case, with ANC mode turned on. A single 10-minute charge of the earbuds themselves delivers 2 hours of playtime only. Charging and battery test results are based on internal OnePlus laboratory results (25° C or 77° F). Test date: June 7, 2021. Fast charge your OnePlus Buds Z2 using a standard adapter or Type-C USB charging cable. Requires 5V~1.5A adapter or higher. Actual performance experienced by users may vary based on the specific charging environment conditions. Thankfully, the six-band custom EQ does help out a lot. Using the preset shown above, I was able to get a much more balanced tuning going, which then helped focus on other aspects of the sound. Unfortunately, both the custom EQ and the more sane presets require the installation of the app, which many people never bother with. IP55 rating and IPX4 rating achieved on test date: June 11, 2021. Data is based on test results using TÜV SÜD based on IEC 60529:1989, A1:1999 and A2:2013 test standards. Water and dust resistance may be reduced as the device ages. Liquid and dust damage are not covered under warranty. The earphone is certificated for IP55 dust and water resistant. Please avoid using the headphones during strenuous exercise or while in humid environments. Water damage is not covered under warranty. Sweat resistance follows the same principle as water resistance because the headphones can help prevent liquid, including sweat, from entering inside. We also applied special processing to the innards in prep to enhance sweat resistance capability. However, sweat resistance capability will decrease with long-term use. Sweat damage is not covered under warranty.

The OnePlus Buds Z2 offers two noise cancellation modes (Faint and Extreme) that ranges between 25 dB to 40 dB. During my testing, the latency performance was good for watching videos as the delay was barely noticeable when paired with an iPhone. Latency on Android was notably higher when using AAC and the audio also took longer to sync when unpausing or skipping but was fine when using SBC.

Finally, connectivity performance was stable with the Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC and there were no observed issues with connection quality or stability. Battery and charging The microphone performance on the Bullets Wireless Z2 is good. There is audible compression when speaking even in quiet environments but voices still sound relatively clear with good tonality. In noisier environments, the AI scene-model algorithm does a good job of reducing ambient sounds and prioritizing the voice, which sounds fairly similar to speaking in quiet environments. With a OnePlus 10 Pro, the phone would frequently lose sync between audio and video while watching YouTube videos, and it would take several seconds before the two synced again. OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 has a battery life of 30 hours on a single charge. Endurance test data is based on OnePlus laboratory tests conducted at 50% volume. Specific endurance performance will vary based on actual conditions and is affected by volume, output source, environmental interference, product features, software versions and usage habits.

Specification

Based on firmware updates to the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC, the above actions may be slightly modified, and the actual OTA content may differ from that specified. What's disappointing, though, is the transparency mode, which sounds muffled and not particularly transparent. It's fine if you just want to walk around without completely being oblivious to your surroundings but I still found it better to just unplug the earbuds to hear better. OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC and OnePlus phones will provide the best experience when used together. The Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC connect to your phone using the HeyMelody software, an app made by HeyTap that is a product of a Singapore-based company called Bravo Unicorn. It's the same app used by all OnePlus, Oppo, and Realme audio products and is available on Android and iOS.
