About this deal

Upgraded Proximity Sensor: The optical system has been optimized, allowing the hidden proximity sensor to help protect you without being oversensitive or affecting the light's beam pattern. (Can be turned off) This version of the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight is probably a Luminus SST-40 emitter, just like we saw on the S2R Baton II. But Olight doesn’t say. Either way, that emitter is coupled with a TIR and provides a very pleasant beam profile.

Upgraded Proximity Sensor: The optimized optical system allows the hidden proximity sensor to protect you without being oversensitive or affecting the light's beam pattern, and you can also disable the sensor temporarily or permanently.

The rest of the light is fairly standard. Batons are great! I’m a massive fan of Batons. The Silver Ridge finish is quite neat and you might know I’m a huge fan of the Topo-style lines. Long Review The Big Table Olight Baton 3 Pro Silver Ridge Flashlight The Neutral White can crank up to 2,500 lumens for one minute in turbo mode. After that one minute, it drops to 800 lumens, which the light can maintain for 240 minutes. While the Baton 3 Pro doesn’t seem to shut off with low voltage protection, the switch does give an indication that the cell voltage is low. Olight is a brand that seems to understand this need. The Baton pro 3 has a battery level indicator of one single LED light. It’s an indicating switch, as I said above, too. It can indicate in green, red, and orange (seen above).

The rest of the light is fairly standard. Batons are great! I’m a massive fan of Batons. This one is good, too, and I’m super pleased to be able to have neutral white. Long Review The Big Table Olight Baton 3 Pro (White) Rechargeable Flashlight This flashlight gives you a throw of 175m with a lumen count of 1500 at maximum candela intensity of 7900. Olight spec 4600 lumens dropping to the torches 1200 lumen high mode after 2.5 minutes and then 600 lumens for the remaining 25 minutes.

Like many other Olights, the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight uses Olight’s very common proprietary magnetic charging connector. The charging base on this light is just a charge base and doesn’t double as a two-stage switch as we see on a light like the Warrior Mini 2. Branded flashlights are all about power; their marketing strategy’s foundation is how powerful the light is. So, how powerful do you think the Baton Pro 3 is? If you’ve used an Olight before, the user interface will be familiar to you. With the torch on, press and hold the power button to cycle between low, medium and high mode. The last used mode is memorised when you turn the torch on. If you double press the power button with the torch on or off, you’ll get to the 4600 lumen turbo mode. There’s no proximity sensor like on the Baton 3 Pro Max. But if you return the torch to its holster it will drop to its high mode from turbo.

Too many flashlights come with no battery level indicators. It’s mainly because it complicates the circuit design. But it’s this indicator that saves your battery low-voltage damage. I measured an impressive 4805 lumens at turn on, 4684 lumens after 30 seconds which it held until around a minute in. It then dropped slowly to 1200 lumens after 2.5 minutes which it held fairly constantly for over an hour. Since the .5 lumen Moonbeam mode is so dim, here it is viewing directly into the lens. This amount of light on a dark wall does not photograph easily. It’s usefully dim. I’d think twice before using the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight or most strobing flashlights as a breakdown warning light on the highway, or as a bicycle headlight strobe. A rapid frequency strobe is at a minimum, distracting and irritating, but could be seizure-inducing in some individuals. And I know strobe is sometimes marketed as a weapon but I hope you’ll reconsider that perspective. If the Baton 3 had a slower frequency strobe I’d use it on my bike. But it would work well as an ‘always on’ bike light. The Baton 3 Pro has 2 color temperatures: cool white and neutral white, but the S2R Baton II only has cool white.

I compare everything to the KillzoneFlashlights.com 219b BLF-348 because it’s inexpensive and has the best tint! Conclusion What I like A battery level indicator built into the side switch that lets you know when the battery needs charging. A green light indicates above 60% power, an orange light indicates 10-60 % power, a red light indicates less than 5-10% power and a red blinking light means less than 5% power and that the torch needs to be charged. For reference, here’s a baseline shot, with all the room lights off and almost nothing hitting the sensor. Also, here’s the light with the worst PWM I could find. I’m adding multiple timescales, so it’ll be easier to compare to the test light. Unfortunately, the PWM on this light is so bad that it doesn’t even work with my normal scale, which is 50 microseconds (50us). 10ms. 5ms. 2ms. 1ms. 0.5ms. 0.2ms. In a display faster than 0.2ms or so, the on/off cycle is more than one screen, so it’d just (very incorrectly) look like a flat line. I wrote more about this Ultrafire WF-602C flashlight and explained a little about PWM too. User Interface and Operation of the Olight Baton 3 Pro Silver Ridge Flashlight In this version of the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight is probably a Luminus SST-40-W emitter, just like we saw on the S2R Baton II. But Olight doesn’t say. Either way, that emitter is coupled with a TIR and provides a very pleasantbeam profile. I don’t tend to use holsters, so it’s still something else that is completely proprietary, just like the magnetic cable, that you need to have with you to charge the torch. You can’t charge the proprietary batteries in a standard battery charger – the positive terminal is recessed. Charging with the XTAR SC1 Plus (with a the help of a small magnet in the recessed positive terminal) Like many other Olights, the Olight Baton 3 Pro rechargeable flashlight uses Olight’s very common proprietary magnetic charging connector. The charging base on this light is just a charge base and doesn’t double as a two-stage switch as we see on a light like the Warrior Mini 2. This was one area of improvement I even pinpointed in a Baton 3 review. So, it’s nice to see how Olight continues to serve the customers’ needs very well.
