About this deal

I have a huge problem with him being fired. It’s over the top and so unnecessary. And since this is a POC hero, it makes me think all sorts of dark thoughts about racism when it doesn’t seem like this sort of book. Plus, the idea that he’s now acting as a substitute teacher!? Feels so wrong to make this choice. This feels like such a huge event for the male main character and to have it come out as an aside from the female main character when she’s sighing over how nice he is… ugh. I can’t.

This book made me feel all the feels and the chemistry between Stella and Luka was amazing. If I rated it for that alone it would be five stars. But… Maybe the reason why you haven’t figured out how to fit your pieces with someone else is because you haven’t found the right puzzle.” Overall, I love this series, and I can read thousands of books if B. K. Borison decides to create more! stars rounding up bc Caleb was so sweet. (Also bc she mentioned the best novella to ever grace spanish television "Corazon Salvaje") If you know, you know!Stella and Luka Peters have been best friends for years. He agrees to be her fake boyfriend to help her win the contest. The rest, as they say, is history. This was kinda similar in premise to Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating. Layla and Caleb don't have the best dating history (individually), so they decide to try date each other and then to grade the other person on what areas they could improve to be a better partner. Yeah they had good chemistry, but I did not care for how the ending of the no strings dating played out. Eventually it works out, of course, but the journey there was just okay for me. I am honestly addicted to Lovelight Farms universe and B. K. Borison's amazing talent for creating the sweetest, cutest couples in the fictional world!

Do you want to read an extra cute, feel-good, heartwarming small town holiday story with a great mashup of fake dating and friends-to-lovers tropes? If your answer is YES, then this is the BEST fit for your expectations. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own. Spoilers: turns out it's nothing, he's just had the wrong girls. Are we surprised? No. It's adorable. And with this arrangement, they both feel free to be as open and honest with each other as I'm sure every couple strives to be. I know you can take care of yourself. You’ve been doing that as long as I’ve known you. But let me hold your hand while you do it okay?” What I loved about this book was that there was a great story here! The Lighted Lovelight Farms was well described and made me yearn for the small tree farms I remember from my childhood which also included Santa, hot chocolate and candy canes.

The communication was a lot better than I would have expected for this fake dating premise. They’d make sure the other knew their feelings instead of keep playing along like it meant nothing for them. The small things that were left to say felt realistic and added the right amount of angst. Luca and Stella have been friends for a decade. Stella is in love with Luca and doesn’t want to lose what she has with him in case he doesn't feel like she does. The loss of her mother almost destroyed her and she can't count on her father. She only sees him once a year for a Thanksgiving dinner that is done way before the date just so he doesn't have to explain a child he had outside his marriage to anyone else. This was such an enjoyable and terrific book. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrators. I thought they did a great job. But there’s one ingredient they haven’t considered. The chemistry between them is red hot and the urge to take things to the next level is more tempting than Layla’s double fudge mocha brownies.

That’s the trouble with falling in love. It’s a messy, ungraceful stumble into a whirlwind of chaos. It doesn’t always feel good. It’s a fall.” I dare you not to fall in love with Luka + Stella. They are so good together. Respectful and loving and kind and SWOONWORTHINGLY hot. Yes I made that word up and I don't care. I love these two humans and I refuse to admit they aren't real. Thanks to Dreamscape Media, the author and NetGalley for my audio copy. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

We all know where this is headed! Again, it's about the journey and this was a sweet one! Layla and Caleb are both great characters. They are likeable and I was rooting for them the entire time! Christmas season is the favorite season of almost everyone. It is a time of happiness, love, and peace. It is a time of bonding with our loved ones. In this book, we can see Stella describing why she loves Christmas. This was such a cute holiday read and I have no excuse as to why I didn’t read this sooner. Stella owns a sort-of failing Christmas tree farm, and enters into a social media contest. But she wrote on her application that she has a boyfriend, which she very much does not. What she does have is Luka, her best friend of nearly a decade 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴. The logical thing for her to do was to ask him to be her fake boyfriend for the contest. This book is beyond sweet, a bit steamy, and made me giggle multiple times. I wish we had Luka’s pov beyond the epilogue but I’m okay with that. The next books in the series are dual pov. Stella's best friend of ten years is a good fit. Luka Peters and Stella would never want anything to hurt their best friend-ness but they can make this fake thing work. Of course the town thinks it's about time, they've known the pair were in love for the last ten years. And Luka's mom, grandmother, and aunts think it's the real thing, too. But for now Stella and Luka will fake it and deal with the fake breakup fallout later.
