About this deal

Big cat populations are declining all over the planet due to illegal wildlife trade, hunting, poaching, habitat loss and the loss of prey. Many big cats are listed as Critically Endangered or Endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. When a species is endangered, it means it is at risk of extinction (disappearing forever). This list of big cats includes a brief description of each of the largest wild cats and its conservation status. The Big Cats List The idea behind awareness campaigns is to bring attention to a problem or situation so that it can be fixed. Sometimes a lot of attention is needed before a solution is found or an issue is resolved.

Cheetahs ( Acinonyx jubalus) are the world’s fastest land animal. They once ranged throughout India, Pakistan, Russia, Iran and the Middle East, but due to diminishing populations, most cheetahs can only be found in the eastern and southern parts of Africa, and Iran. Today there are an estimated 7,000 cheetah’s left in the world. Conservation Status : Vulnerable. The term “big cats” is often used to describe the four largest wild cats: lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars. These are the only big cats that roar. However, there is an expanded definition of big cats that includes the cheetah, snow leopard, cougar (mountain lion/puma), clouded leopard and Sunda clouded leopard. Panthera tigris sondaica – the last surviving population of island tigers is the Sumatran tiger – Critically Endangered; there are two other extinct island tigers, the Javan tiger and the Bali tiger. The tiger ( Panthera tigris) is the largest of all big cats. Less than 3,000 tigers exist in the wild today. It was once believed there were several tiger subspecies. The subspecies list was revised in 2017, showing only two subspecies: Panthera tigris tigris (tigers in continental Asia) and Panthera tigris sondaica (tigers in the Sunda Islands). Conservation Status: Endangered.

The lion ( Panthera leo) once roamed throughout southeastern Europe, the Middle East and parts of India. While a small population still remains in India, the species now occupies habitats in various parts of Africa. At one time it was believed there were many subspecies of lion. As of 2017, only two subspecies are considered valid. Conservation Status: Vulnerable.

Cooper was inspired to write the book based on experiences in his life. He had grown up on a farm, and had thus been familiar with animals "cycling through". As an adult, Cooper and his family adopted two cats. [1] A couple of years after the adoption, one of them died, and Cooper observed that his daughter was less familiar with death as a child than he had been. [2] Panthera tigris tigris – includes the Bengal tiger – Endangered, Siberian (Amur) tiger – Endangered, South China tiger – Critically Endangered, Indochinese tiger – Endangered, Malayan tiger – Critically Endangered and Caspian tiger (extinct).

Premise/plot: A simple yet profound book on life, love, and legacy. Dare I say we're talking meaning-of-life stuff here? The story at its most basic: Big Cat trains Little Cat on how to cat. Little Cat grows up to be a Big Cat. The two enjoy each other very much. My favorite line, "For five minutes each day they went wild." Everyone is sad when 'Big Cat' dies. But a new kitten joins the family a while later. And so once again there's a Big Cat, a Little Cat, and a whole lot of lessons to be learned.
