They were so supportive & loving of heroine. Now heroine, I wish he had been given someone else. For two childhood BFFs and soulmates, this felt a lot like only Hero was in love. Heroine was written very bland with no personality other then to whine a lot. She never came across having the deep love & commitment that Hero had for her. As we learn about the marriage of Eve and Gregg, we see Gregg is a twisted Psychopath who has controlled and manipulated Eve for many years.

Now this isn’t a spoiler since it’s literally written in the book blurb, but…OMG ADDIE AND COOPER GETTING MARRIED?! OMG! After a drunken night, the next morning Addie and Cooper discovered they got married! Well at least Adam didn’t have to worry about finding someone for Cooper anymore lol! The idea of Adalyn and Cooper being married was unexpected, but also amazing because, what started off as an accidental marriage ended up becoming so much sweeter and enjoyable along the way for Cooper and Adalyn. I kid you not, I was LITERALLY waiting for that iconic moment when Cooper would refer to Adalyn as his wife in either a passionate romantic moment or in a protective alpha way. Either way I was vibing along and enjoying the story the more I read. I love marriages of convenience but this type of marriage was another kind I absolutely loved! Oakley was a SWOON worthy book boyfriend. He was the absolute best. A little birdie told me, we see him again in the next generation series and I. Am. Here. For. That. !! However, Poppy’s life is turned upside down when she discovers that her husband has been having an affair. She is devastated and unsure of what to do next. To make matters worse, she is also struggling with a difficult case at work and is being stalked by a mysterious stranger. I admit that it took me a little while to get used to the narration style, which is mainly Eve “talking to” Gregg as she recaps the events that led up to her current situation. It’s an unusual style I’m not usually fond of, but as the story progressed I found that it was befitting this tale of power and abuse and helped to explore the dynamics that drive these characters. Once I got into the story, it carried me with it like a runaway train, depositing me firmly into the midst of troubled minds – that of the abuser and the victim. Fascinating? Yes. Disturbing? Definitely! Some passages evoked an almost visceral response of anger and disgust that made me want do away with Gregg myself. It always reflects the skill of a writer to be able to kindle such sparks in the minds of her readers!

Even in, “Her Greatest Mistake”, Adalyn had always talked about wanting to travel to Europe so, finally getting to see her do it was great, and with Cooper alongside her it made it even more intriguing for me to read! A big part of this story revolved around Adalyn and Cooper traveling a lot so, it was a nice change of pace compared to them being in their hometown or familiar areas. In a way, while reading it gave me glimpses into all the different places Addie and Cooper traveled to. I would say this book definitely hit the spot to read during the summer time, but you could honestly read it whenever you want. But fate turned a complete flip when something happened between her and Santiago Lopez, ang lalaking noong una pa lang ay hindi niya na gusto. Braxton is such a kind, strong & caring person. she’s confident, sassy, independent and knows her worth. I absolutely adored her. she knew what she wanted and was always clear about how she felt. she’s now one of my favorite heroines. I loved reading about her🤍 This series is a second gen series and the family/friend dynamics are so so amazing. And when Maddox makes an appearance I about died. We love a protective older brother moment! I fell for Maddox HARD but Cooper gave him a run for his moneyyyyyy. The mouth on him? Bye. On the other hand, after finally getting free of a toxic four-year-old relationship, Sierra decides to stay single for as long as possible. She only has her eyes set on getting a very much-deserved promotion at work; to her, the promotion is a straightforward plan. But after sending a one-night stand entangled in Braden’s sheets, the two will find it harder to continue living their normal lives. Or are they read for sex with no strings attached? One risky sex arrangement later, and they find their lives intertwined. Will they be able to keep their distance while having sex without strings attached, or will they give in to their strong desires for a relationship?the love between them was so strong. after so many years the longing, the angst, the frustration between them was portrayed so beautifullyyy. they never really stopped loving each other and we got to see the small ways they kept each other alive even after everything that happened🥹 *sobs uncontrollably* he got a freaking tattoo because of her. A TATTOO🧎🏻‍♀️& he’s never been with anyone else bc he always knew she was it for him😭 Cooper, far from the little boy we seen from Vital Blindside, I love that he got his own book and a love interest that pushes him out of his comfort zone. And his dirty mouth🥵🥵 damn, I was not expecting that but I loved every second of it. And the piercing , pleaseeeee , I’m obsessed 😮‍💨👀 Cooper and Adalyn I love them so much. They are the couple that surprises each other in the most beautiful ways possible. They are the perfect blend of sweet and spicy and they are adventurous, and caring with one another in different ways. The happiness and love they truly share for each other help them fill in the spaces and end up creating a beautiful life together. 🥹🫶

It takes a genius to be able to write a psychological thriller covering the gritty subject of domestic abuse, beautifully, but Simpson has achieved just this. It takes an incredibly talented author to write a novel depicting the female perspective of domestic violence with grace, authenticity, and effective research, but I suspect Sarah's experience working as a psychologist is responsible for enabling her to write the most realistic portrayal I've ever read- and I've written one myself. This is a gripping read, and it wasn't until I had completed this book that I realised this is a debut novel. WOW. Author Sarah Simpson holds so much promise for what's to come and I shall certainly be watching for her future releases. As the story unfolded, I found myself worried for Eve, rooting for her and at times terrified in the face of her bravery. The love of a mother brings with it courage which many of us don't normally have, and this book displays that so well. Having run the gamut of emotions which the skilful writing evokes, I'm quite worn out! Not a novel to be taken at face value, this is an engrossing read, switching from two different timelines and harbouring secrets within. Definitely a five star read and one which I have no hesitation in recommending.

Within the first few chapters, I was already smiling, laughing, feeling lighthearted, and genuinely happy at seeing familiar faces from the other series. When I read how old everyone was especially Oakley and Ava, it made me realize, “omg these aren’t the same twenty something year olds I once read about a few years ago!” It’s coming full seeing everyone as parents, and the kids going off doing their own things from Adalyn, Cooper, and Maddox and Braxton (from the first book “Her Greatest Mistake”). Even getting moments of Tiny (Tinsley a.k.a. Sierra & Braden’s daughter) let me get a bit of insight as to how she was now that she was older, and I cannot wait to read her story with Adalyn’s brother, Noah! Overall, “Her Greatest Mistake” is a gripping and intense thriller novel that explores the themes of betrayal, forgiveness, and the consequences of our actions.

The premise drew me in, and in many ways, it does fulfil its promise. The descriptions of Eve's life with Gregg are detailed and vivid. There's no doubt about his systematic destruction of her. For me, there is too much detail and too many examples of abuse. I don't need to drown in detail to understand. Hanna Cowen takes the reader behind the scenes and gives them a glimpse of what it is like for an NHL player. Maddox has been through a lot throughout his career, especially regarding the draft, finding the best team, and making a name for himself outside his father, who was also an NHL legend. He will do anything it takes to secure a contract with his team. On the other hand, Braxton is willing to do whatever it takes to gain Maddox’s trust and forgiveness for what happened years ago. And if a fake girlfriend is what Maddox needs, she is willing to commit to it. But as expected, the faking concept does not last long since the two have a strong connection that causes them pain when they separate. As a reader, you will enjoy seeing them forced to work through their issues and give each other a second chance at love and relationship.
