About this deal

The 24 gifts contained in this special Advent calendar combine wonderfully with other LEGO Marvel Studio sets to build and invent endless stories or create impressive decorations.

Here’s a look at the 2022 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, which looks to incorporate characters and scenes from the upcoming LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation Disney+ animated special. Consider your budget: LEGO advent calendars vary in price, so choose one that fits your budget while providing the desired features. Some older advent calendars from previous years are cheaper, so keep this in mind if you’re on the hunt for a bargain. The designs are fairly simplistic, with only the general shape and colours used to clue you into what they actually are. Despite multiple days combined into one model and a missing team member, the level of thought and the many references in 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar make it great value, as long as you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans of Marvel comics might have preferred a mix of other heroes outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy, though to be fair the name of the set makes it very clear that this isn’t going to be the case over the 24 days.Despite giving a daily recap of each of the LEGO® Advent Calendars for the last few years, I’ve never actually reviewed one, until now. Last year, the long-running LEGO Advent Calendars range expanded to include a Marvel-themed one. It was focused on the Avengers and featured a mix of minibuilds and minifigures inspired by Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. This year’s offer is a little more intergalactic and is inspired by the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Disney+ Holiday Special. The exact story of this small screen spin-off is currently unknown but it’s safe to assume it will be at least a little festive. Day 15 is a Candy Cane. That’s it. A large Candy Cane decoration. I guess it’s Christmas after all, and there blow-up Candy Cane decorations in the GOTG Holiday Special, but this could pop out of the City or LEGO Friends Advent Calendar, and it wouldn’t be out of place at all. Build up to the holidays with the LEGO® Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar! Open a different door each day of December to discover a surprise gift. There are 6 minifigures waiting to be revealed, plus mini builds and accessories. As the big day approaches, bring the gifts together to recreate favorite scenes and Marvel adventures of your own. What sets it apart is the sheer number of pieces it offers, making it the most generous in terms of creative possibilities. Furthermore, it strikes a good balance between the holiday spirit and the Star Wars theme, infusing each day with the magic of Christmas while exploring the epic galaxy. This unique blend provides hours of imaginative and inter-generational play, making it a must-have addition to the festive season. How do I choose a LEGO advent calendar?

I also really like the printed casette tape, which I believe is a new element and exclusive to this Advent Calendar, so this is really a pretty decent window, even if the build is somewhat on the smaller side of things. Drax comes to us in a holiday sweater that features a dancing potted Baby Groot. Drax has traded in his usual daggers for a fork and spoon. What better way to chow down on the table full of treats? Drax’s frenemy Mantis surprises with a blue guitar accessory. (For caroling, I guess?) Oddly, Drax also includes a spur of the purple Infinity Stone (the Power Stone). While this is the stone the Guardians sought to protect in their first movie, it has no immediately obvious purpose here beyond that homage. Of course, the real gem is the Aberforth Dumbledore minifigure who’s never appeared in a Harry Potter Advent Calendar before, so definitely worth adding him to your collection. Theme: LEGO Marvel Set name: 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar Release: September 1, 2022 It’s one of the most creative Advent Calendar Christmas trees yet, and it pairs remarkably well with Groot, who’s, well, a sentient tree. It also fits the scene from the GOTG Holiday special where Groot serves as a Christmas Tree, so this is both accurate and festive all at the same time.Build up to Christmas with the LEGO® Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar! Open a different door each day of December to discover a surprise gift. There are 6 minifigures waiting to be revealed, plus mini builds and accessories. As the big day approaches, bring the gifts together to recreate favourite scenes and Marvel adventures of your own. On the inside of each flap door is a picture of its respective build, which also doubles as your instructions; there is no separate booklet to explain how to put these together. In theory, this means that the single picture must be self-evident enough to convey what is typically depicted in multiple steps. Plus, we love the detailed mini-build toy vehicles, of which there are 10-, and five Star Wars Saga mini-builds including the Clone Command Centre, Ewok Village, Endor Bunker, Endor Shield Protector and Emperor’s Throne. Shop now: LEGO advent calendars are often released well before the holiday season. So, be sure to shop early to avoid disappointment later. What LEGO advent calendars are there?

So far, we have 4 minifigures in the GOTG calendar, 3 of which have come from 76913 The Guardians’ Ship, which may or may not be a good thing, depending of course if you have the set or not. Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar features 24 days of builds and minifigures to count down to Christmas, all revolving around a specific theme. The current line-up of these seasonal sets ranges from Star Wars to CITY with Marvel being the newest addition to the annual range. However, 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar is the first to be based on a Marvel Studios project rather than Marvel overall, raising expectations from the 2021 version.

Do LEGO advent calendars sell out?

Opening up the lid of the present revealed a pair of headphones fitting snugly inside the crate. You actually get an extra pair which is a bit of a nice touch. There’s a mix of miniature ships including the Milano and Benatar behind some of the doors, and smaller ships referencing other films too. In the potential context of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, these could easily be toys and their builds are surprisingly challenging for how few pieces they use. That’s no bad thing, as it helps extend the building time for select days.

Following 2021’s excellent Marvel/Avengers-themed Advent Calendar, we’re getting a Guardians of the Galaxy-theme Advent Calendar, featuring characters and settings from the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Behind each of the Advent calendar’s 24 doors is a daily Marvel gift for kids to discover throughout the December build-up to Christmas.I love what they’ve done with the wings, which can be fanned out at different angles, and just how sleek this ship looks. It’s pretty much perfect, and I’m so glad that we finally get a build worth getting this excited for. Day 8 is a bit of a nothingburger, even if it’s reasonable festive. We get a complete LEGO Turkey, a stand/table, and some flames to roast it.
