For best results, empty toilet. Spray bowl thoroughly with All-Purpose Spray, or sprinkle 2-3 drops of Sal Suds directly on toilet brush. Sprinkle baking soda on a brush, scrub bowl. Let sit 10 minutes. Turn water on. Flush.

The color of your oil will change the color of your final product. If you use a deep yellow oil, like jojoba or olive oil, then your soap will have a slight yellow hue. If you use something like fractionated coconut oil, then your soap will remain clear. In the future, I’d like to play around with adding aloe vera gel (probably a couple of tablespoons) or vitamin E oil (probably a teaspoon) instead of the oil. Countertops & Tile: Spray and wipe with a damp cloth. Cleaning Stone with Castile Soap and Sal Suds And speaking of soap , is Sal Suds the same as castile soap or are they different? Castile soap is a wonderful product for skin and body care, but not so much for homemade cleaning products. The reason is that soaps and detergents (Sal Suds) behave differently in water. Upholstery: Spray a wet (not dripping) cloth lightly with All-Purpose Spray. Gently rub cloth on the spot. Rinse area with a second wet cloth. Blot with a dry cloth to extract moisture. For large areas, use a carpet cleaner (above). Always spot test first.Even though it's safe on skin, we don't recommend using it on people or animals as it can be drying. As with our Castile Soap Dilutions Cheat Sheet, these recommendations are not set in stone and we encourage you to experiment. That said, here are tried and true mixing instructions to suit any of your cleaning needs! What is Sal Suds used for? Sal Suds is very versatile can be used to wash and clean a variety of hard and soft surfaces. Here are some ideas for how to use Sal Suds:

While high concentrations of some essential oils can be toxic to some animals (some animals like birds and cats are more sensitive than others), products containing essential oil concentrations of less than 1–2% are generally considered nontoxic if used according to label directions. Rest assured that the essential oils in our Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner falls within this range. When used according to our recommendations, these products will be diluted even further and should pose no threat to your animal. I have also included 4 recipes for cheap eco-friendly cleaning products at the end of the post. What is Sal Suds made of? Dr. Bronner Sal Suds Concentrate– A coconut-based natural formula that cleans exceptionally well. In fact, one drop added to two quarts of water is enough to clean carpet stains. A teaspoon in a quart of water is enough to clean most surfaces and this is a very effective spray laundry stain treatment when diluted with water. Dishes (Handwashing): ½ – 1 ½ tsp. (2.5 mL to 7.5 mL) Sal Suds in a large sink of water. Or 1 drop Sal Suds for one pot, more if needed. Use 1 tablespoon (15 mL) Sal Suds for HE washers. Wash per manufacturer recommendation with cold or hot water. For extra whitening and odor-removal, add 1/2 cup (120 mL) baking soda in the wash cycle and/or 1/4 cup (60 mL) in the fabric softener compartment. Double all amounts in standard washers. All-Purpose Cleaning Spray:Also, I understand the reasons to go sulfate-free, which I will discuss in a future post. What does Sal Suds smell like?

In cleaning solution chamber, fill with water and add 1 drop of Sal Suds. Add 1 c. (240 mL) vinegar to rinse water (optional). Use All-Purpose Spray on carpet spots (use sparingly). For best results, empty toilet. Spray bowl thoroughly with All-Purpose Spray, sprinkle baking soda on the brush, scrub bowl, let sit 10 minutes, turn water on, flush. Cars: ½ Tbsp. (7.5 mL) Sal Suds in 3 gallons (12 L) of water for exterior. Use All-Purpose Spray on interior surfaces and leather seats. Wipe with damp cloth. Carpet Cleaning: To clean carpet naturallyI pre-treat stains with a 1:10 dilution of Sal Suds in water and then use 1 drop of the concentrate in a steam cleaner ( full tutorial here). In the natural world, we have vilified Sodium Laureth Sulfate. We say it's a carcinogen and highly toxic to aquatic life. In most cases, this is true. But did you know that not all SLS is created equal? It depends on how it's processed.
