About this deal

The Batman Who Laughs ( Bruce Wayne) is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He is the evil counterpart and alternate version of Batman within the Dark Multiverse. Brown, Dan (15 March 2019). "Brown: The Batman Who Laughs seems inspired by Judge Death". The London Free Press. London, Ontario, Canada: Postmedia . Retrieved 26 March 2019. These efforts coincide with a new broadcast from the Joker, promising the murder of industrialist Jay Wilde. As fresh panic sweeps Gotham, Gordon and Batman redouble their precautions, especially once Batman deduces that Claridge had been preemptively exposed to a special delayed-action poison. Though no such thing is found in Wilde, a tight cordon is nevertheless thrown around his country estate - a cordon that the Joker promptly crashes with a stolen helicopter at midnight. Year One presents the reader a fresh Jim Gordon. One who was already bedraggled but still a fearless reformer. An idealist who had just enough fear to take on the city, and just enough hope to think he could win. He’s a fantastic investigator, dogged enough to take on the entire police department.

A comic book version was produced by Spanish artist Fernando de Felipe in 1992, published by S. I. Artists and republished by Heavy Metal in 1994. This adaptation was intended for a mature audience and places more emphasis on the horrific elements of the story. De Felipe simplified and took some liberties with Hugo's storyline. His rendering emphasized the grotesque in Hugo and excluded the elements of the sublime that were equally important in the original. The Batman Who Laughs is referred to as "Laughs" by Devastator in Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt #1. Laughs was revealed to be the victor in the category of "Villain of the Year", which was decided through votes cast by fans. [30] Ed Brubaker was a tonal match. Clever, somehow both lurid and measured in his style. He also made great use of canon and understood the world well enough to play effectively with point of view. All of these skills had served him well on Batman projects in the past.Dark Nights: Metal (Volume 1): This storyline details Bruce's first appearance in the "light" Multiverse as well as his time with the Dark Knights. It also displays his first meeting with the Batman of the main DC universe. Fixed editing error. When Batman shoots the glass doors, he now immediately drives through them instead of having a random parking garage clip inserted between the two shots. Baron’s Joker is superb, looking sharp in purple, orange and green, along with red lips and terrifying bloodshot eyes. It’s a tried, tested, and proven combination against the grey, blue and yellow of Batman. The story of the Batman of Earth -22 was not much different from that of any other version of the Caped Crusader. When he was a boy, Bruce Wayne watched his parents get murdered in an alleyway. Vowing vengeance against crime, he trained for years and became the hero Batman, fighting super villains in Gotham City. Next, Bruce Wayne is seen at a social event talking to fellow millionaire Henry Claridge. On a TV in the next room, a reporter is overheard announcing that Arkham Asylum is being reopened. She suddenly begins laughing and soon dies with a face similar to the corpses. The Joker then walks onto camera and announces he will kill Claridge at midnight.

Still, fans new and old can celebrate the Blue Beetle outside the movie theater with countless stories, TV series, and even a fighting video game from the makers of Mortal Kombat. That's right, you can blast a hole through your DC opponents as Blue Beetle in Injustice 2. Jaime Reyes is still a fairly recent incarnation of the superhero. However, the Blue Beetle has a long history that includes two previous owners of the mysterious Scarab who also fought for justice. You just have to know where to look for the best stories out there, and DT is here to help you with that endeavor. In Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile, The Batman Who Laughs is a playable character (being considered a version of the Joker). Je suis un symbole. Ô tout-puissants imbéciles que vous êtes, ouvrez les yeux. J’incarne Tout. Je représente l’humanité telle que ses maîtres l’ont faite. Having realized that the Batman Who Laughs could only anticipate every move Bruce Wayne would realistically do, the Batman of this world did something he would otherwise never do - team up with the Joker to save the day. In the final confrontation, Batman escaped his evil counterpart and rescued the Over-Monitor, while the cave they were in collapsed on the Batman Who Laughs and the Joker.

Jokerized-Superman broke the Batman Who Laughs out of his cell in the Hall of Justice - his plan seemingly working. Superman asked the Bat what his ultimate goal was, which he admitted was destroying all life in the multiverse. Visor Tether: Bruce relied on his visor to keep him anchored to the Multiverse. Without it, his connection would be severed and he would cease to exist outside of the Dark Multiverse. [12]

What is Batman: The Man Who Laughs?

Nigh-Omniscence: Bruce perceives time in a non-linear fashion. This means that he sees the past, present and the future simultaneously. His powers allow him to view everything throughout time as well as the workings of the multiverse. Bruce is also aware of every Batman from the Dark Multiverse, and was able to pull aspects of the most terrifying and vicious of them, including their skills and experiences, and stitch them into his own mind. [23] The title of this one-shot is drawn from the 1869 novel by Victor Hugo entitled The Man Who Laughs. In 1928, the story was adapted into a silent film starring Conrad Veidt. Veidt's character Gwynplaine later became the inspiration for the character of the Joker. While Batman’s deductions and reasoning are as thorough as you’d expect, Gordon’s monologue adds depth to the story. He is acutely aware that he is among the last of the old guard in a world overrun with superheroes and villains. His discombobulation with the changing world helps to sell both the realism of the story and the horror of the Joker’s violence. Would've left the scene w Gordon + Ramirez + batsignal in to 1) provide context re how batman has changed gotham's criminal activity, 2) foreshadow Ramirez's betrayal (mother in the hospital etc), 3) use the batsignal instead to underscore the 'batman as a symbol' theme (which is essentially the purpose of the copycat story component anyway) which then 4) makes the 'gordon taking an axe to the batsignal' shot in the end more poignant and meaningful.
