Take the whole mixture and press it into the bottom of a cheesecake pan and let it chill in the fridge. Rubber Spatula: I keep a rubber spatula on hand when baking so I don’t have to waste a drop of filling. I have made banoffee pies in fluted tart tins in the past and while it works OK, I much prefer using the cake tin. Banoffee' is a portmanteau, combining the words "banana" and "toffee". Most modern Banoffee pie recipes use caramel or a can of dulce de leche. At one time, it was common to refer to these ingredients were sometimes as the more generic 'toffee filling'. You can defrost your frozen pie in the refrigerator overnight. Can I make an individual banoffee pie? How to make banoffee pie in a jar? Before serving, use a peeler to make chocolate shavings from the chocolate bar. Peel directly over the cake and make sure the shavings are evenly distributed. Whizz the biscuits to crumbs in a food processor (or put them in a freezer bag and smash them to smithereens with a rolling pin), roughly chop the pecans and stir together with the melted butter. Break the biscuits into chunky pieces and put in a food processor. Blend into crumbs, then add the melted butter and, with the motor running, blend well. Alternatively, put the biscuits in a strong polythene food bag and bash with a rolling pin. Tip into a bowl and stir in the melted butter.

This was a big hit at a family party, though a few noted the pudding was too sweet. Will definitely toy with the sugar levels next time around. Strain through a sieve and top up with the remaining milk, then pour into a saucepan. Add the cream and heat until almost at boiling point. Fill the base of each cupcake case with a spoonful of mixture. Unwrap the Mini Galaxy Caramel Eggs and place one in the middle of each case on top of the mixture. Top with another spoonful of the mixture so the cases are ¾ full and the eggs are completely concealed. You can of course change the recipe, but bear in mind it will affect how it behaves. You could experiment with leaving out the sugar element from the cookie crust and using less sugar in the caramel. Can I make this recipe without bananas?

Ingredients

Unripe bananas will be a little bit green and firmer than yellow, ripe bananas. Unripe bananas will also be much harder to mash, so ripe is best for this recipe. While the filling is cooling, slice up a banana and set the slices over the top of the dulce de leche. Sugar: crumble some brown sugar or go buy some confectioner’s sugar to dust the top of the pie with. The effect will make your pie look super classy. There’s nothing to stop you from using dark chocolate if you prefer, but I particularly like using milk chocolate here. Bananas, cream and milk chocolate is pure nursery food, am I right?
