About this deal

A pretty delicate finish considering all that spice. Oranges and some tropical fruits gently fade away until there's just a hint of spice left. After several minutes, just a touch of dark chocolate comes out.

I admit, I am completely enamoured with the Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14-year-old single malt whisky. It has a rich, tropical flavour profile that is highlighted by the rum casks in which it is finished. Its notes of vanilla, coconut, and dried fruit make it a delight for any whisky enthusiast looking to experience something truly unique. Palate: Sweet and metallic on entry. Ever-so-light buttery toffee, and then the sugarcane sparkles: saccharine but without the sweetness, perhaps like starfruit... or maybe silvery stardust. And thanks to @ WhiskyBee for recommending this. His review recommends substantial breathing time, so I have allowed a small sealed sample breath for a couple weeks:

Short and simple, but pleasant and with no disturbances. A surprising effect is that after a minute, you feel you are exhaling cocoa powder through your nose. I first tasted The Balvenie Caribbean Cask at a Scotch tasting along with five other finished whiskeys. The Balvenie was one of my two favorites of the night and I wound up buying both shortly thereafter. In Scotchland (see what I did there?), The Balvenie Caribbean Cask is a standout and absolutely earns a Bottle rating. BRAND NOTES

Too bad that Pierce got more screen time, which also happened with Balvenie. Dryness wins barely, but just enough to earn under 80 points from me. Sweet and rich dark plum notes surround gentle caresses of vanilla and cinnamon. Raw sugar cane adds sweetness to the whole ordeal. Wonderful nose.

Đánh giá Balvenie 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask

The combination of Balvenie Doublewood’s smooth malt flavour and hints of fruitiness is perfectly complemented by the tartness from the lemon and herbaceous notes provided by the mint. It also has balance; neither too sweet nor too tart. Or if you are looking for something a bit more savoury try a creamy brie? Or maybe even a Camembert? Creamy Brie Ultimately, what really sets these two whiskies apart is their ageing processes. While the Caribbean Cask takes on additional flavour due to its rum cask ageing process, the Doublewood gains complexity through its nine month maturation in first fill European oak Oloroso sherry butts before bottling; this unique blend results in a robust bouquet and flavour profile that simply can’t be matched by other Scotch whiskies. Balvenie Caribbean Cask vs Doublewood: Food Pairings This is a great whisky with some amazing flavors but it has one quality that really stands out and that is its’ uniqueness, something that I love in a whisky. My first bottle of the Caribbean Cask was a congratulatory gift from a friend upon the birth of my daughter. Everyone I shared it with at the time drank it neat and loved it, and I've bought two bottles since. There have been visits from friends where literally the first words out of their mouths as they enter the house have been, "Do you have the Caribbean Cask?" It is easily one of the smoothest whiskeys I've ever had, and many others have echoed this sentiment.
