About this deal

Continues bleeding the radiators downstairs, starting with the closet to the boiler until no water or sound could be heard Ok, I've seen a few posts on this subject but none actually seem to give an answer, (so perhaps there isn't one?)

We recommend that a filter is installed on all systems, in conjunction with a cleaning of the system, to capture any existing debris. Our range of cleaners is comprehensive and can be choosed based on the scenario that presents itself. See our cleaners and system cleaning-related products here. For details of how to dose using the Rapid-Dose format of this product, please watch the Rapid-Dose video. Why? Removes potentially damaging contaminants and restores system effectiveness, reducing future breakdowns and increasing system life. Unrivalled chemical technology reduces circulation time to just 1 hour. X300 Cleaner for New Systems is designed to target excess flux residues, greases, and oils in addition to installation debris and sludge. Not only this, but X300 passivates the metal surfaces and helps to prevent copper deposition, a common cause of pinhole corrosion in radiators. Ideally, the product should be added at the first filling of the system. The water should then be circulated at normal operating temperatures for 2 hours before being flushed out. If you are using cold water, leave to circulate for 24 hours. Powerflushing is not necessary when using this product. The system I’m dealing with is not new, but is less than 6 months old In this scenario, the system may benefit from a manual flush using with X300. The system I’m dealing with is older than 6 months

A filter will help capture debris, in a collection chamber, and hold it there until the chamber can be emptied. To clean an existing system in accordance with BS7593 it is strongly recommended that Sentinel X800 Jetflo is used with power flushing equipment which will provide a more rapid and effective clean. In such case, Sentinel X800 Jetflo will be administered via the power flushing equipment (follow equipment manufacturer'gs instructions). Alternatively, Sentinel X800 Jetflo should be circulated, preferably at normal operating temperature, with all valves open and the pump turned to maximum flow for a minimum period of 1 hour or until satisfactory performance is restored. Last night I drained 'some' water and added X800 (so it is just plain water and X800 in there at the moment).

Apply to: Restore circulation and effectiveness in systems older than six months that have a significant amount of corrosion debris causing poor circulation and cold spots. Prepare for the installation of new components. Recommended dosage: 1 litre of X300 is sufficient to treat a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. Circulate from 1 hour to 7 days for maximum performance. To clean an older system in accordance with BS 7593 it is recommended that this product is used withpowerflushing equipment. In this scenario, administer Sentinel X800 Fast Acting Cleaner via thepowerflushing equipment, following theequipment manufacturer's instructions. Alternatively, circulate theproduct (preferably at normal operating temperature, with all valves open and the pump turned tomaximum flow) for a minimum period of 1 hour or until satisfactory performance is restored. I'm not sure if I should be draining it out tonight, (as I had planned), as that is 24hrs rather than the single hour they 'quote', or if leaving it in longer is beneficial? Why? Contamination from the manufacturing and installation processes can accelerate corrosion of new components. According to UK Building Regulations Part L Domestic Heating Compliance Guide, a central heating system should be thoroughly cleaned and flushed out before the installation of a new boiler. Sentinel's range of filters is crafted to fit any situation. The filters we offerrange from ultra-compact, where space is at a premium, through the compact Vortex300 and the larger Vortex500, which is also suitable for heat pump installations. After cleaning, the system should be drained and flushed until the water runs clear. On refilling, the system should be treated with Sentinel X100 Inhibitor or Sentinel X500 Inhibited Antifreeze.
