About this deal

Fast bonding and handling strength. Compared to traditional adhesives such as PVA and resin powder adhesives, polyurethanes can make bonds in a fraction of the time and speed up production. Handling or set time, is how long it takes for the adhesive to have reached a point when the materials bonded can be moved and machined. Final cure is when the adhesive has undergone all chemical reactions and full bond strength has been achieved. The glue comes in a single-component format that you can use straight from the container or as a two-component system that you can mix easily. Single component PU adhesives: Two types of hot melt adhesives are known: EVA hotmelts and PUR hotmelts. The former have the advantage of being reactivatable. This means they can be melted again after curing, which makes recycling possible. Before deciding on the best shoe glue to repair your shoes, be sure to consider what type of material you will be working with. Some shoes are made of leather, while others could be rubber, vinyl, or canvas, and not all shoe glue works for all types of material. Another important factor to keep in mind is the color of the glue. If in doubt, choose a clear shoe glue that won’t attract attention.

Fans of PU glue can also be its biggest critic, especially when it comes to cleaning up. That is when revolutionary products like Wood Max Express can fill the void – literally! For example, if you want to renew the floor covering of your house and glue floorboards or parquet flooring, PU glue could be the right choice for you. Of course, there are also some disadvantages: For example, this adhesive is relatively expensive in comparison and loses its good adhesion if too much time is lost. So you have to invest some money and work fast. This makes the PU adhesive more suitable for experienced artisans. Nevertheless, its many advantages outweigh the disadvantages. For example, high-quality PU adhesive is solvent-free, so you do not have to air your floor for days after laying it before you can safely enter the room. Its adhesive effect, when used correctly, is enormous and withstands the highest demands. Polyurethane adhesives contain isocyanates which may cause occupational asthma and are a suspected carcinogen.Hot melt adhesives are adhesives based on thermoplastic polymers. This means that they have a stable state of aggregation at room temperature and become liquid when heated. They can only be processed in the liquid state. After drying, they return to their solid state of aggregation.

Image illustrating the open cell structure of Polyurethane glue (left) compared to the solid form of Wood Max Express The incredible bonding power of Wood Max Express is approximately 4x greater than the strongest grab adhesive and effectively joins two pieces of wood to form a single, solid timber component. It can also be used to bond wood to metals, masonry, and other building materials. Advantages of Wood Max Express vs Polyurethane Glue The most unique thing about using acrylic glue with PLA is that it actually dissolves the PLA material. Although this is dangerous for PLA parts that are extremely small or fragile, the structural integrity of a “welded” joint is second to none when it comes to durability. Apply the acrylic glue in very thin layers – you can use a brush for better control – and you should not have any problems. Shoe manufacturers regularly rely on neoprene cement to provide a strong, waterproof bond between the sole and the bottom of the shoe. However, it should be noted that neoprene cement is flammable, so it is important to stay far away from an open flame when applying the glue and avoid setting the shoes near sources of fire such as a lighter, match, or campfire. Factor to consider when gluing PLA

What can PVA glue be used on? Polyvinyl acetate (PVA) can be used on just about any material including wood, metal, paper, book bindings, wallpaper, vinyl, and leather. It makes an excellent holding adhesive to keep things in place before you fit a more permanent fixing. At Protrade, we have a unique alternative, non-foaming adhesive that offers all the benefits of a PU glue with none of the downsides.” Des Duddy – Joint Managing Director Most often applied as a liquid or paste, polyurethane glues can be absorbed by porous materials like wood to create deep surface bonds. Once the PU glue is absorbed into surface micropores, it can expand up to 3 times and provide an even stronger hold. This can also be a reason for caution as it has the potential to cause damage upon expansion.
