About this deal

I did loads of research and this one had everything I wanted (belt drive, looks nice, decent stylus and phono pre amp) and Peter Tyson were the cheapest online. NT-505: In 2020, TEAC released the NT-505, a USB DAC/Network Player that supports high-resolution audio streaming from various sources, such as TIDAL, Qobuz, and Spotify. The NT-505 features dual AK4497 DACs, MQA decoding, and DSD512 support, making it a versatile and powerful addition to any Hi-Fi system. A phono stage is included, together with small by-pass slide switch so an external stage can be used if preferred. Additionally, the stage has a USB digital output for computer connection, so digital recordings can be made. Teac talk about the analogue amplifier chip in this stage, stating it is a NJM8080 (never heard of this one!) but are strangely silent in their literature about the crucial analogue-to-digital convertor (ADC) so it is going to be ‘budget’ and is – unsurprisingly – CD quality, quoted as l6bit with 48kHz maximum sample rate. From a 3150Hz test tone (DIN 45-452 test disc) the TN-3B produced 3178Hz on our Wow&Flutter meter, making it nearly 1% fast – about the limit of acceptable error before pitch becomes quite obviously high. This points to lax factory adjustment. I think what puts me off the ProJect and Rega is this entirely manual operation and having to dismantle the thing to change RPM. That said, from the youtube videos I've watched, those brands do appear to be "better". I mean, I have no real desire to see a belt outside of the table but on the other hand, I would say my main deal is that I would rather not have a tone arm so weighty that is carves a new groove in my vinyl - especially as a lot of it is old and let's just say has probably had some of that life on older cheaper tables.

The belt-drive motor used in this turntable eliminates the unwanted cogging effect from the motor operation. It ensures precise and smooth platter rotation of the TN-3B, resulting in uninterrupted audio output. The belt-drive motor also gives the flexibility to adjust the RPM by adding the speed regulators. This turntable is designed with knife-edge pivot point bearing that provides quality performance, minimizing the tendency to vibrate and offers fine stability. Pivot-point bearings result in razor-sharp, high-resolution sound quality that another conventional turntable hardly achieves. The sleek and stylish design of this analogue turntable provides a contemporary look to the premise. Belt-drive motor system offers the two operation speeds including 33-1/3 and 45 RPM that gives you the freedom to operate it as per your requirement. Expertly designed and manufactured by TEAC, the TN-3B enhances your overall music experience, offering you unrivalled audio quality with its balanced functions. This high-fidelity turntable not only elevates the acoustics of your room but also elevates the aesthetic appeal of the home because of its fine finish and engineered design. It is manufactured in a way to remain ultra-stable throughout its life; this leads to the astonishing performance all the time.TN-3B obsahuje phono EQ zesilovač typu MM, který vám umožní připojit gramofon ke konvenčnímu zesilovači/hi-fi systému, který postrádá PHONO vstup. Operační zesilovač hi-fi úrovně s nízkým zkreslením, NJM8080 se používá k posílení nízkoúrovňových signálů z phono kazety na úroveň LINE. It employs a new tonearm with knife-edge, pivot-point bearings, co-developed with SAEC, the high-end tonearm manufacturer, for superlative stability and resolution.

It looks a bit more expensive and is better equipped with both built-in turntable amplifier (RIAA) and a USB output. Thus, one does not need any extra equipment to get sound.

The TN-3B is a stylish, sleek-looking belt-driven turntable with a built-in MM-type PHONO EQ amplifier and USB digital output. It employs a new tonearm with knife-edge, pivot-point bearings, co-developed with SAEC, the high-end tonearm manufacturer, for superlative stability and resolution. The belt-drive mechanism, meanwhile, helps mitigate any unwanted cogging effects (ie fine pulsing) from the operation of the motor, to ensure a precise and smooth platter rotation.

I connected the TN-3B, set to Line output, to our Creek Evolution l00A amplifier, driving Martin Logan ESL- X hybrid electrostatic loudspeakers through Chord Company Signature Reference cables. The quality of the treble is reflected in the timbre of the instruments– the guitars are very expressive, and the transients are sharp, but pleasant because they are effective.

Looks a lot more expensive than it is and love the retro look in Cherry Red. Had loads of good comments from guests and like the idea it’s fully manual with the drive belt going around the outside of the platter - looks good and also means you’re part of the experience, rather than some alternatives that are automatic and start and stop at the push of a button Love it! I wanted to get into a new hobby and start listening to vinyl, having never owned a turntable before. Always loved music but mainly used CDs, MiniDiscs (remember them?!) and streaming. The thing I am missing is a phono stage. I am pretty much thinking the ProJect MM box simply as I'm going into a Denon DM41 which I'm sure most will sniff at. At the end of the day, my living room isn't huge and I figure when I move next year to somewhere bigger, the Denon will be a decent bedroom mini hifi. So I figure given I've spent a fair wodge on a tt I won't need to replace anytime soon, I can scrimp a little on the phono stage until I move and spend cash on a bigger living room system.UD-701N: In 2021, TEAC unveiled the UD-701N, a flagship Network Audio Player/DAC that supports high-resolution audio streaming and offers a wide range of connectivity options. The UD-701N is equipped with a high-performance DAC, a toroidal power transformer, and a dedicated headphone amplifier, providing audiophiles with an unparalleled listening experience. OK just been doing a tonne more research. I have to say, this guy's video makes a lot of sense to me... I don't know much about the 3 record players on your list ( I once auditioned the Project and it was fine but I didn't select it) Though I do electronic work by trade, I have no idea how to maintain a turntable which puts me off vintage gear. Happy to get my hands dirty but no idea what to buy in reality. But as far as budget, those are the three I'm looking at. So which would you say would be the best for me in terms of easy use and maintenance?
