I used a really soft and smooth rayon that I got from Simply Fabrics last summer. I had all the intentions of making a summer dress with it at the time but never settled on a pattern. This was a great choice for a dress like this though as it has that lovely swishy quality that I love for a dress!

Sewing pattern sizes are labelled with generic numbers from 1 to 15. Use the body measurements to determine your size. Don’t expect great reception on the Isle of Skye. During our visit in 2016, 3G was available in Portree and Broadford. Outside of these areas, there was little to no cellular signal. Therefore, it is a huge advantage to rent a car with a built-in navigation service. This helped get us from point to point when our cellphones were useless. We used O2 but another popular carrier is Vodafone. Update in 2022: According to this article, there may now be 4G in the Isle of Skye. If your bust, waist and hip measurements fall into different sizes, do not fear! Sewing our own clothes means we can make gorgeous garments that fit our beautifully unique bodies. Yay! You can join up different size lines at the bust, waist and hips to create a garment that fits your unique body measurements perfectly. See ‘How to combine pattern sizes’ below for more details. If your bust, waist and/or hip measurements fall into different pattern sizes, you can draw a new line ("grade") between pattern sizes to get a bespoke fit for your exact body measurements. The great thing about the Skye dress is the only important area to fit is the bust. There is a lot of positive ease (aka room to breathe) at the waist and hips, so it's unlikely you'll need to combine pattern sizes - yay!

The Skye Trail. For experienced hikers only. This hike takes 7 days and is 128 km in length, traversing a huge portion of the Isle of Skye. Old Man of Storr. A little more strenuous but your reward is a view of one of the Isle of Skye’s most iconic spots. The entire hike is just under 3 miles. It’s a climb up to the Old Man of Storr with awesome views out over the island. Quiraing. Another Isle of Skye icon. This is a more challenging hike, 4.5 miles in length, along the cliffs of the Quiraing. Perfect for older, adventurous kids.Fairy Glen. Another very easy hike. Just 1 mile in length, allow one hour for a leisurely walk through this very unique and quiet corner of the Isle of Skye.
