About this deal

In 2020, Chalk Paint™ turns 30. Yay! To celebrate this milestone, I’ve created this Pearlescent Glaze. Pearl is traditionally used to mark 30th anniversaries. And when I began the company, I offered a similar product – Pearl Paint – so this is a nod to my heritage. There it is there. As befits the range-topping model of the 208 range, the sporty Alcantara finish for the upholstery in the GT Premium really lifts things and works well in place of the ‘Capy’ man-made leather of the lesser GT cars. Nappa Mistral full-grain leather with Charcoal Grey Top-Stitching Yellow light is reflected by interference with reddish light from the iron oxide coating to create bronze pearlescent pigment. It depends on how much restoration it needs. If you have a couple of stone chips in an inconspicuous place, you could consider applying a touch-up paint pen yourself. If you’re wanting to give the paint a more general spruce up, the best thing to do is to give it a good wash, then apply a clay bar to it (read up on how to use these), before applying a good-quality wax. If your car needs more serious work to its paint, we can only recommend you call in a reputable professional bodywork restorer. Change cars with carwow

Pearlescent-type titanium dioxide coatings do not absorb light; they only reflect, refract, and transmit light, behaving according to the additive color scheme. This is different from the subtractive colors of pigments. With additive color, the primary colors of reflected light (red, green, and blue) add up to white light (see the table of illustrations below).

I’m mixing now the Pearlescent Glaze with some colours. And this for me is one of the most exciting things. So I just want to show you these: so that is a colour that I’ve made by using Florence; this is one I’ve made using Antibes Green; and this one using Aubusson Blue. So how you do it is…I’m going to have lots of glaze there! And now the key is to have just a tiny, tiny bit of colour. So I’m just going to… a little tiny bit on there and then mix that in. You see what a huge difference that makes? You’ve got to be careful that you don’t put too much in otherwise you’re going to obliterate the translucency of it. And then I can just paint that on there. Isn’t that beautiful?

Mica platelets have a high level of transparency. White light will pass through the platelet—the titanium dioxide layer has a higher refraction index than the mica and the surrounding. Light is refracted and at the interfaces reflected in different angles. This phase shift creates so-called interference colors—the main characteristic of a pearlescent effect—. Iron oxide shows its typical color even in thin layers on a mica substrate.Mainstream manufacturers tend to offer a limited range of pearlescent colours, but high-end brands often offer dozens. While conventional metallic pigments are planar flakes of an opaque reflective material, pearlescent and other effect pigments use a multi-layer structure to produce reflection, refraction, and optical interference. White light is the name given to light that makes up all colors of the spectrum. When we see something as a blue pigment, we see the reflection of blue light. When we see something as a red pigment, we see the reflection of red light. If none of the above floats your boat, various car manufacturers use a range of other techniques to give even more lustrous finishes in a seemingly infinite spectrum of colours. You pay for it, though, with special finishes often adding thousands of pounds to the cost of a car.

Going even further, most high-end car manufacturers can create any colour you like. If you want your car to match your goldfish, or you want an entirely new colour, they will gladly oblige. Having relieved you of several tens of thousands of pounds for the privilege.

What’s special-finish car paint?

So I’m going to explain Pearlescent Glaze is. So this is it, it’s quite white looking but in fact it’s translucent and in a way it’s very much affected by the colours that are underneath it. So if I paint it on to here a white paint underneath it looks white. If I paint it here on to different colours; that looks pinky, that looks yellowy; that looks blue. The idea is that it enhances that colours that are underneath it. And it’s got this beautiful, beautiful glaze to it, which does catch the light. Solid = a simple body colour with no additives in the paint. Usually comprises 3 coats, these being a primer, then the paint, then a clear, protective lacquer. Solid paints aren’t particularly shiny and are normally the only standard/no-cost colours offered by manufacturers. The ‘Colyn’ part of the fabric has a herringbone effect, which lifts the ambience, while the ‘leather’ is actually a man-made replica of cow hide. That should please the vegans. This is the standard interior on the more upmarket Allure and Allure Premium 3008s. Mistral Leather Effect With Mistral Alcantara There are 7 main paint options for the 3008, comprising 4 metallic shades and 3 pearlescent finishes. We also outline the various interior upholsteries that go with these external hues. Paint Types

If your project will include areas not covered with Pearlescent Glaze, your paintwork will still need protection. Apply a layer of Chalk Paint™ Lacquer after painting and before applying the glaze. Laser light instruments provide several pieces of information. They can provide differential or cumulative size distributions, percent below a specified size, size below a specified percent (i.e., D50), and a distribution mode (the most populous size interval). Each piece describes a different attribute. No single piece can completely describe the size distribution or the effect it will produce in paint. Therefore, it is often necessary to use several data points for this purpose. Dirt shows more obviously on metallic finishes than solids, so you may end up cleaning your car more often. Be careful, though, as the paint marks more easily. Use a proper car shampoo – washing up liquid contains abrasive salts – and make sure there’s no grit on the sponge. Over-zealous polishing causes swirl marks and car wash brushes can leave marks, too. But any marks can usually be carefully buffed out. Rublev Colours Gold Pearlescent pigment is non-toxic and FDA-approved for use in personal care products and cosmetics. What Is the Difference between Pearlescent and Iridescent?
