Turbanshell and then Goldar taunt Tommy over the loss of his powers but are ultimately outsmarted. Tommy escapes, rescues his friends, and destroys the green crystal holding his powers before Lord Zedd can make use of the Dark Rangers. The Rangers, along with Tommy, morph summon the Thunder Megazord and challenge Turbanshell to a final fight. The monster bests the Megazord breaking it up into its five components, and the others helplessly watch as Jason fights solo. The Green Ranger, about to call Dragonzord, is stopped by Zordon. He explains to Tommy how to destroy the monster. With only one chance, Tommy, in what could be his final battle, weakens the beast from the inside. After defeating Turbanshell, the Dark Rangers are restored to normal with no memories of their past deeds, and Kimberly realizes they just need friends. A crime is committed in broad daylight, so Bulk, Skull, and Kimberly take a cab to follow the culprit. But Zedd makes a few changes by transforming it into Crabbie Cabbie using Finster's vehicular transformer apparatus. Our heroes get the news from Zordon. At the Command Center, the Rangers are presented with all new Shark Cycles. The Earth and Rita and Zedd's palace shake with the arrival of one very evil visitor: Rita & Rito's father, Master Vile. In original airings and on streaming, Zordon named the Shogunzords after the Rangers used them for battle, with everyone simply calling the components Ancient Zords. PLEX designed the Thunder Megazord. Its design was based on ancient Chinese soldier armor, mostly mountain-pattern armor (Chinese: 山文铠; pinyin: shānwénkǎi). Like the armor, the silhouette of the Thunder Megazord is shaped like the Chinese character for the word "mountain" (山). The Red Dragon Thunderzord is designed like the legendary Monkey King, adorned with 'Hui' or rectilinear spirals, while the Thunderzord Assault Team are designed like stalwart, immovable palace statues. The Lion Thunderzord in particular is modeled after the statue of an Imperial guardian lion, the type that is found in Chinese temples, museums, and government offices, amongst other places. The Unicorn Thunderzord is incorrectly named, as its motif is based off of the winged horse Pegasus, as is the Griffin Thunderzord, which is a Qilin. The White Shogunzord is also the only Shogunzord to not be referred to individually as an Ancient Zord. The first time it is named on-screen, the Ancient Zords were already renamed to Shogunzords.
