About this deal

The famous tart-sweet liqueur known as limoncello requires only four ingredients: lemon peels, grain alcohol, sugar, and water. However, like many of Italy’s most important culinary traditions, the simplicity of the recipe can be deceiving. This liquorificio situated in the picturesque village of Ravello produces homemade limoncello using the sfusato amalfitano lemons. They also make a variety of digestivi made with fennel, coffee, melons, strawberries, and other novel ingredients. From lemon to limoncello, approximately eighty days elapse. It’s a relatively simple process but each producer boasts his or her own limoncello secrets. For example, some use only the rinds, while others marinate the pulp and seeds. People experiment with different ratios of sugar to water in the syrup. The location where the limoncello steeps, with varying temperature and relative humidity, can also play a role. Ultimately, these factors affect the flavor as well as the opacity and texture of the final product. One batch of the final product may be bright, neon yellow; another may be more cloudy and opaque as a result of the emulsification of the sugar and lemon oils. If you engage in the labor of love that is hand crafting limoncello—and you’re giving some away as a gift—you should probably go the extra mile and make it look incredible. The best way to do that is to put it in bottles that properly display the liqueur, and even enhance the beauty of it. I’ve been making and gifting limoncello for over a decade, so I have some advice for you on how you can make your limoncello look amazing. Where Can I Buy Limoncello Bottles? If you’ve never had the pleasure of enjoying limoncello, you’re in for a real treat! Limoncello is a traditional Italian liqueur made from lemons. The flavor is tart, citrusy, and sweet (thanks to the addition of simple syrup).

Lastly, a bit of lemon extract could do the work. Again, start with a small amount, taste, and then adjust as needed. Italian Lemon Desserts Tiramisu has two main components: the soaked ladyfingers and the mascarpone cheese filling. All you need to do is put together the soak and the filling, and you are ready to assemble. Place the lemon peels in a half-gallon canning jar. Cover with the Everclear or vodka. Close lid and place in a spot out of direct sunlight. Shake daily. Infuse for at least four days (in the case of Everclear 190/189) and up to six weeks (for the lower proof alcohols). The infusion is ready when the alcohol is bright yellow and the lemon peels have lost most of their color. The good news? No matter what type of experience you choose, limoncello is very affordable. You can do your own taste-testing at any producer or just about any bar or shop selling limoncello in the area. Inside many bars and pasticcerie you’ll be offered a sample of the house-made variety. With the variety and wide availability of good-quality, well-made limoncello, you’ll have plenty of options. The filling is a luscious combination of cream cheese (always at room temperature), caster sugar, plain flour, eggs, lemon zest and juice, limoncello and sour cream or creme fraiche. I wouldn't recommend doing a full lemon juice substitution for the limoncello because it would be too tart. You could mix a tablespoon of lemon juice with a tablespoon of sugar and two tablespoons of water to get a ¼ cup serving of limoncello. Worst-case scenario, though, is that you can always make it at home! How Much Does Limoncello Cost? The most classic way to drink it is on its own, in a shot glass. Even though it's served in a shot glass, limoncello is meant to be sipped. There's no need to add ice to it if you've kept it in the freezer. Limoncello bottles come in various shapes; there isn’t one standard appearance for a bottle of limoncello. The glass is typically either clear or frosted so that you can see the attractive yellow color of the liqueur. However, there are a few important considerations when choosing bottles for showcasing your home-made limoncello.

Once the 30 days are over, prepare the simple syrup. Place the water in a pot and heat it over low heat. Once the water is slightly warm, add in the sugar, stir and let it dissolve completely. Once the sugar is dissolved, let the mixture cool completely to room temperature (a few hours) (photo 5)Add the simple syrup to the infused alcohol (it will go slightly cloudy) and stir with a wooden spoon. You now have limoncello! (photo 7) Preserved lemons – a traditional Middle Eastern ingredient, preserved lemons are a magical ingredient that take recipes to another level Limoncello Tiramisu is the perfect make-ahead Italian dessert. Firstly, you must let it sit for at least 4 hours before serving. But, ideally, a day or two ahead in the refrigerator is a great way to allow the flavors to meld.

Next, fold the whipping cream into the mascarpone mixture. You don't need to be super gentle with this process. Mix to combine.Limoncello is traditionally drunk as an aperitif—an alcoholic drink that is taken either before or after a meal to stimulate digestion. Some folks also use limoncello as a palate cleanser between courses. And of course, some people (hi, me!) just like to sip it because it tastes so darn delicious! Limoncello is a common drink in the summertime because it is so refreshing, but it tastes wonderful all year!
